Now that I've had a bit of practice working out designs for these things, I tackled something a but more complicated. This one took a week and I don't know how many sheets of foam board. Michaels had them on 2/$3. I think I bought it all LOL
In the end it cost about $40 -$50 to make this vs $100+ to have one made for me. It's maximum color capacity is 63 8 1/2" x 11" colors. Can't imagine I'd ever need more than that.
I have no template for this. I worked it out as I went along.
Thanks for lookin'
**EDIT**
In response to questions about how I did the cuts. I used a Dado Cut approach. Picture can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/alprna
The difference in how I did mine is I removed all of the foam down to the paper backing. I think it'd be quite impossible to remove it to the half way point as is the standard practice when working with wood.
The unit is 100% foam core, including the sides. To give you an idea of it's sturdiness, my 25lb cat sits on it and it doesn't even bow. I also used hot glue in all of the assembly for added reinforcement.
I hope this answers some questions for everyone.

All I can say is WOW!!!
I have been searching for ideas and looking in all sorts of stores for something to jump out at me to customize/repurpose to do this very thing.
How inventive of you.
I am also curious what the groved sided are made of. Did you cut slots in t he foam core? OR is this some sort of shelving material from a home improvement store? Please tell us...

what a great idea! I'd also love to know how you got the slots in the side. I'd make mine smaller because I don't have that much paper at present, but I suppose I could make more! TFS!
