The big heart on my card was cut out of handmade paper that I made several years ago. About 5 years ago, my husband was out of work, so money for making cards was almost non existent. What ever colored paper that I had I didn't waste anything. I kept scraps no matter how small. I had ziplock baggies that I would sort by color families. I would even use the colored paper on school letters that were sent home with the kids. After I got a few of one color filled up. I would add parts of cereal boxes with the paper and with water mix them up in my blender. I would then strain the water from the pulp and lay the pulp down on dish towels to start the drying process. When I saw the colors for today's challenge I knew I wanted to use that paper to make this heart. I kept the back simple to make the heart the focal point. I added four little brads. I tilted them to add interest. I wrapped twine around the heart and card. The inside says you have captured my heart. Happy Valentine's Day. This is going to be my Valentine for my dh. What do you think??

Oh, what a wonderful Valentine's card, MariLynn. Especially with that story to go with it. Haven't made paper since I was - well, not even a teenager, I'd say. The paper in this is wonderful, it looks fantastic on screen so it must look even better IRL.

This is fabulous. What I love most about it is that you made the paper. Those must have been tough times and you did a great job trying to make stamping work. I admire that. Great job MariLynn..
