For Holiday Challenge 7, to be think of Christmas past and be inspired!
I recently got a Christmas survey email, and one of the questions was "What was your favorite gift?"...well mine was FASHION PLATES! (I think it was early 80's, and I was around 9 or 10!)...You got this set of templates of heads, shirts, and skirts...put them in different combinations, colored over with black, and made your own fashionable girl! Then you could color her outfit in. AND some of the templates had patterns on the back, and you could color over them, and ouila...your girl had a heart print skirt or houndstooth jacket! I kept all the girls I made and gave them fabulous names like Bianca, and Kirby, and Monique, and wrote their names on the bottom of my finished art work!!!!
Doesn't this toy sound SOOOO much like stamping??!! What with background stamps, paper piecing and cuttlebugs...I do the SAME thing I did with my Fashion Plates...changing images and making them fun everytime I stamp!! NOW I know why I immediately fell in love with stamping!
So I did this with my Believe Santa from Papertrey Ink...I made him a jacket by using the PTI Guide Lines set on a different piece of paper, and paper pieced his hat and coat. Then I threw in my cuttlebug swiss dots for a snowy hill, which made me think of my Fashion Plates templates...and I betcha that is exactly what is in his little gift box!
