This is for FS99 and our featured artist is Barbara Schram. Wow!!! Barb has a gorgeous gallery and I loved going through it. I was especially drawn to this card Kindred Spirits for Dad by Stampfilled Dreams at Splitcoaststampers when she uploaded it in May and was bound and determined to try to make a similar card today. I love how light and breezy each one of her card is and each little vignette is placed so perfectly. Well.............I couldn't get light and breezy or perfect placement. I feel like I have to write a Mothermark like story because of the rapid decline of my plan. I decided it would be fun to do a card based on the word FUN. I had visions of sweet beach scenes as an especially nice change from all the Christmas cards I have done over the last several months. Well...I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to create the word FUN with cutouts. Hmmmm! I didn't wan't to do a DAD card as I just don't do those as I lost my dad long ago. I was finally able to use Barb's DAD template and made a DOG card. I stamped my little dog and accessories in, masked a few items and finished up by drawing a fence and a tree. Things were going fine. I got everything painted and went to work on the sky and I got a big red blob of ink right in the top part of the sky. Darn!!!!! I hate it when that happens. Well...no worry, I'll just a darker shade of blue for the sky. Ugh! My sponge was too full of ink and I got a huge blob of blue ink that was so darn dark it totally ruined the scene. Hmmmmmm! I was not going to give up after figuring out how to make that dog cut out. I finished up the sky the best I could and tried to cover up the big blue spot with green leaves coming out of the left hand corner and adding a few limbs. Ugh! It was getting worse. I finally decided it would be a nice night scene...I mean.... one of the dogs is sleeping....right??? I took a small sponge dauber and started sponging yellow around to create the look of moonlight. Yeh......Not!!!!!!!!! It just looked like a big blob of green sky so I wnet over the whole dog gone scene with the yellow to blend things in. This was a test of will and determination as I was just not going to give it up. If nothing esle....I learned a little patience with my big, ugly mistakes.

OMG! This is a piece of art! I would frame it and hang it on my wall, seriously! =) I have 4 dogs of mine own and this portrays what my backyard often looks like in the summer, minus the doghouse (they're inside furbabies)! Anyway, I love your little story and would have never known about the "blob" as the end result is stunning! Amazing work! =)
