The reason I started making my own cards is because I got tired of spending too much money for lame cards.
Wandering around Michaels Arts and Crafts Store, I found foam stickers. I didn't know they were for kiddie crafts and thought they would make great cards for cheap. I could buy a whole bucket containing hundreds of pieces for just a few dollars, on sale! So they became one of my key card elements.
Soon after, I discovered thin stryrofoam sheets used for packaging makes for great snow. I paste white index cards to the back to make it easier to punch holes in and cut. When I apply the little dots, I peel off the paper, but for the snow, it can be left on or taken off, depending on if there is overlap with the coloured cardstock.
Splurging on a pad of textured solid coloured cardstock on sale and craft glues, I had all the fixings for making easy and quick cards that cost me less than a dollar to make.
I made these for my Christmas cards and also to send to the troops through CardsforHeroes.org. The styrofoam makes a safe sparkly substitute for the banned glitter.
So, in this card I have used:
foam penguin
foam snowflake
styrofoam sheets
solid colour textured cardstock
white index cards
elmer's glue-all multi-purpose glue
funcraft foam glue by Aleene's
hole punch
blank card
