I made this card for the November VSN, “Cabaret”. Paula (mrslaird) chose belly dancing as her theme and from that had the inspiration for a shaker card. I love it! This is my very first shaker card ever and it was a breeze and so much fun. I love the way it came out!
If you want to make one, here is the link Paula gave us for Beate Johns’ shaker card tutorial. Just love that Beate – her tutorials are THE BEST! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
For this card, I had the perfect stamp to go with some leaf confetti in the goodie box of things I recently got from my friend Joan, but no really appropriate “sentiment” stamp, so I lettered my own greeting and matted it with the same card stock as the shaker.
I took the time to stamp and finish the inside of this card. I stamped off and then stamped the tree over the middle of the left edge of a piece of cream cardstock cut an inch or so narrower and shorter than the inside of the card. I glued two of the confetti leaves to on the right lower corner. Simple and quick. The entire card took less than 30 minutes including watching the tutorial twice. (I’m tired – figured I needed a course AND a refresher!)
As luck would have it, the “perfect” confetti for the perfect tree was a bit too large, so I cut all but the smallest leaves into tiny pieces. I also found that the foam tape wasn’t as thick as I would have liked and it doesn’t “shake” as freely as I wish it did. Next time I make a shaker, I’ll use a double layer of the foam tape.
