I made this card for the November VSN, “Cabaret”.
Riley (dancerriley) challenged us to create a card using the thumping technique to add some color interest on the background of our card.
Thumping involves inking a background stamp and then enhancing the colors by tapping or “thumping” the image with water based color markers to add color for a marbled effect.
I don’t ever use markers [Translation: they’re on my Wish List but I don’t currently own any), but I used ink and applied it directly from the tip of a “cats’ eye” type ink pad and I got essentially the same effect.
The background stamp I chose is a vintage manuscript colored in a random pattern of Ruby Satin, Silk Green, and Gold Brocade and the individual colors as well as blends of all of them show up very well and really complement the primary images very nicely.
