I made this card for the second act of the November VSN, “Cabaret”.
The challenge was inspired by DeniseÂ’s (resqbarbieÂ’s) childhood dream of being a rock star. We were to use an album cover, CD cover, or our favorite rock star as the inspiration for a card.
My long time favorite CD is Elton John’s “Love Songs”. As soon as I read the challenge, I went and dug it out and played it while I worked.
For this challenge, I took my inspiration from The Lion King’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and I made a card for my husband who is away at a medical conference.
Before he left, Steve pulled out all the stops to make sure I had a new computer that was up and running AND on-line – no mean feat!
Lacking any “lion” stamps or anything that could be reasonably substituted for jungle animals, I went for the next best thing, the “real” thing. I had a picture of DH and me sharing a kiss in our garden. I converted it to gray-scale, printed it out, and used that as the focal point and surrounded it with what hopefully passes for a stylized representation of a rain forest. Around the edge of the card, I wrote the most meaningful (to me) lines of the song.
Update: DH arrived home from Colorado Springs at around midnight. I had left the card on his pillow. He LOVED it, and not just the card and its meaning, but the fact that I made a card just for him. I showed it to one of my friends who said, "But you didn't sign it! And there's no message!"
I signed it with our picture... and the message to him was the name of the song... "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." (He got it, BTW.)
