I made this card for Cindy's birthday teapot challenge this week - http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2008/...uesday-18.html .
Right, I still don't have any rose stamps other than A Rose in Winter.
I thought about doing an embroidered card because I have a very suitable rose design and an OK pansy one. But that would have taken a lot longer than this card did, and I am trying to finish off a cot blanket for a friend.
I took a pre-cut aperture card and enlarged the aperture a bit. Then I used some crinkle paper and made a narrow iris-folded frame inside the aperture. I used some little rose leaves, a dried rose and a dried pansy. OK, not quite herbal tea, but suitable for a garden party, no? I find that if I dilute some clear-drying PVA till it's quite thin, and paint it onto the flowers with a soft brush, they will stick well to the card and be sturdy enough to stand up to posting.
There was a sort of orange line round the lid of the teapot. I drew an orange frame round the card but it didn't look right, so I had to stick gold lines on instead. The black gems are the closest I made it to the black splotchy things on the handle. Sorry to describe them like that, Cindy, I am sure if I saw it in real life they are far more elegant than splotches.
Thanks for the tea-party, though it's more like coffee and hot chocolate weather here.

Sabrina, I have been checking off and on all morning looking for your card. Wow. It was worth the wait. I love the iris folded frame for your flowers. This is a fabulous creation. I love how you got the black splotches.(I hope I didn't offend Cindy by calling them cowhide spots.) I am so glad that you come to the teaparty it is so much fun to see what you create!!

We all don't know what those black splotchy cow hide thingys are! Snort! Honestly, like I told Marilyn, I think that teapot is supposed to look like those old white metal teapots that when you chipped them it was black inside! Hee! But, I love that you worked so hard those splotches represented here!
Your card is wonderful....is better than using a stamp because what is better than real flowers? I love the different layers around the frame and honestly can't even imagine anything different for the gold part....It is gorgeous....very nicely done!
Thanks for coming again...and next week lets drink hot chocolate and coffe but just call it a teaparty! That'll work! Thanks for the link!!

This is so great how you used the actual pressed flowers. I love that you called it Herbal Tea - very fitting! And you snuck that secret flower in there with the Iris folding (ha!). Clever girl. Very pretty!
