I made this card for the October (200VSN Mini Cabaret Challenge “Play the Accordion”. I was nervous at first about Peggysue’s choice of techniques but I should have had more faith. The fold is deceptively simple and the final result is wonderful. I expect to make a lot of these cards for the upcoming holidays!
Some things of note: First, I loved the sample that was included on the challenge post that had brads at each corner. Unfortunately, I didnÂ’t care for the look of the brads on the inside once they were put on the card. I covered the tabs with punched flowers and that camouflaged them.
When I saw “two sided designer paper” on the shopping list, I remembered this paper immediatey and didn't need to buy any specially for this. My friend Robyn had given it to me as a gift the first day we stamped together. (Robyn has taught me a lot, and she’s the friend who lent me stamps for the August VSN – at the time, I think I had a total of 6 of my own - for a two day VSN!)
I didn't take the paper out until I read the instructions for this challenge and when I did, I was dismayed to discover that it was card stock, not lighter weight designer paper. However, it worked beautifully and I am going to make more of these cards using the heavier weight card stock.
I made this card to be used as a birthday gift holder. Every year, I give a gift card to a special friend who is more like a second “Mom” to me. So, I didn’t include a message or other embellishment on the inside (the paper is gorgeous enough!) but instead, added a tag that I looped over one of the ribbons. It can hang inside or outside of the card when the ribbons are tied.
