For Sketch Challenge 197...this was a fun one! Thanks, Rox!
I bought this set, Christmas Classics, on sort of a whim...and at first I regretted it, but then I became detemined to fall in love with it. And I did! I've yet to use anything but the tree image, but there's still time!
I've thought these trees needed to paper pieced for awhile, and was glad to finally give it a try today!
I started by stamping my trees on kiwi kiss with Adirondack Espresso Ink (a pretty shade of brown). I cut each of them out, omitting the stem and star. I sponged each piece using Distress Vintage Photo ink, to give the edges a highlight. I stamped the 3 trees again on close to cocoa cardstock, then layered my kiwi pieces to this base. I cut the trees out one more time, but left the stem this time, as it was now cocoa.
Hopefully this makes sense...I'm probably making it more complicated than it needs to be For a tutorial on paper piecing, click here.
The snow was created by tearing and layering whisper white cardstock, then sponging the torn edge with soft sky ink. I stamped the paisley background with white craft ink on bashful blue cardstock for the blue layer. The ridinghood red layer is stamped with cranberry crisp ink repeatedly to create a background image.
Thanks for looking!
