Tried a portion of the technique I learned in a 'Silk Resist Stamp' class a couple months ago from a local artist... plus an accidental discovery... the wetter the more colors flow & push. Dye-na-Flow paints are applied from finger-tip spray bottles to the lightly H2O-dampened & loosly finger-gathered scarf. Leave no material white. Sprinkle coarse rock salt over the still gathered/pleated scarf. Spritz with more water to further dampen to your desire... the 'wetter' the scarf/paints, the more the salt will push/flow the colors. Set aside to dry. Brush off salt once the scarf has dried (save the salt as you can re-use it on the next scarf you make). Iron the scarf to heat-set your colors. Rinse the heat-set scarf out in water. Hang to dry then iron. I love the technique & effects. No 2 will EVER be the same. Most my painted silk scarves are embellished with bead fringe.
