This was for todays card sketch challenge. I literally got this CHF stamp yesterday. After much longing it finally showed up at Heather's!!!! Yippee!!! So I got it and then I got it home and realised the challenge of actually using it. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I had to use this stamp!
I coloured on the froggy parts with a green tombow marker and then coloured on everything else with a brown tombow marker.
Now the ink on whisper white had a neat effect. Remember those books we had as kids where we took a wet paint brush on faint colours and then we got vibrant colours??? (My dear boyfriend's sister reminded me of this childhood fun). Well that's basically how I started the colouring on this card.
I used water and just let it move as mall amount of the surface ink on the frogs and the ground. Then I added a little light brown to the frogs and the ground, followed by a dark brown. I used the dark brown to do all of the "black" bits and did the tongues and lady bug with red and the eye balls and butterfly in yellow. Then I did the sky in blue. When I was adding colour I was picking the pen up off of a CD and adding it in layers.
This turned out to be quite fun to do but a bit time consuming. But I'd do it again because it worked really well I think. Something that would make the colours really pop would be to add UTEE on top but my embossing gun is still AWOL so...how it is will have to be good enough for now. I layered onto river rock and wild wasabi as well as a piece of neon lime green from the dollar store and then stamped the senitment.
Thanks for a terrific sketch and hope you enjoy my card.
TFL!
