Default WT789 ~ We've Got This Taped ~ {04/23/2020}

It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week, wishing you all a happy THURSDAY. Even with me still working, and DH working a normal full-time working week at home, I am finding it so hard to keep track of what day it is, without all the normal external cues. How about you? But it is definitely Thursday, and my challenge is to use tape. Any way (almost, see the caveat below), any tape.

You could use clear packing tape to do an image transfer (or, stuck to black card before die-cutting a sentiment, it's a quick and easy way to add gloss).

Here are some suggested tutorials and previous Technique Challenges.

Magical Masking Tape - I bet this would work great with DOX inks! Let me know...

Die-cut masking (so long as you use painter's tape, then it qualifies )

Faux washi tape

Faux Leather with masking tape (I love this, and it's a look that works surprisingly well for oriental cards)

Punched (or die-cut) washi tape (TLC608 )

Embossed Washi Background (TLC695)

Metal Foil Tape Art (TLC438 )- a long-time favourite of mine, if you have wide foil tape.

And I can't find the tutorial, although I know I've used it - using clear packing tape in an aperture and burnishing clear (or other) glitter into it for a frosty window. Found it:

Glitter Window

As well as the above suggestion for die-cutting washi, it looks great under an aperture. What other neat uses have you got to share with us?

Any way you use tape as a feature, whether it's in the process (magical masking tape, die-cut masking) or the actual product is good for today's challenge EXCEPT that using your ATG or any other tape gun or double-sided tape to stick layers together does not count .
p.s. As far as I'm concerned, the Dymo label makers use tape. Just sayin'!

Once you've created your card for today's challenge, upload it with the keyword WT789 and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card, especially if there's a typo in your keyword, and the hostesses really appreciate it.

Here's a link to our WT789 We've Got This Taped gallery

Here are links to my samples - one using very decorative washi, one using the faux leather tutorial:

WT789 Celebrating Friends by Cook22

WT789 Floral Thanks by Cook22

If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread

2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.

3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)

4. Click EDIT. Click COPY

5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE

As always my thanks go to the WTUI team who have come up with these great samples to inspire you: Cathy,, Lisa, Carla and Toni all got their tapes outl

I FINALLY have washi tape and I'm supposed to make faux washi tape? I'm laughing because I've had to do that for washi tape challenges This washi tape is really thin because it came with the last SU planner and it's small enough to fit in the calendar squares. So punching and embossing just really isn't a good option. I'm allergic to techniques I really hope no one minds that I just used washi tape. I finally have washi tape!!

WT789 - You amaze me by Miss Boo - at Splitcoaststampers

It just dawned on me... I don't have any masking tape!

Heart WT789 Simply Thankful

Sabrina- thank you for the washi tape techniques, complete with hyperlinks
I went with embossed washi background, sticking to blue greens and green for my washi tapes, and adding texture with a birch trees ef. Rubbed blue ink on top of the embossing to enhance it a bit. Here's Simply Thankful

Thanks, Sabrina, I am very proud at having discovered this method of inkless printing. For those without VCR tape, many thrift stores still carry them.
