WT741 ~ Marbled Books ~ {05/23/2019}
It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week. Sometimes when I am thinking up the challenges, I have ideas in my mind of specific things to suggest - sometimes I look up what happened on this day in history to see if it triggers an idea. The New York Public Library was dedicated on this day in 1911, the largest ever marble structure built in the USA. So today's challenge is to feature books AND/OR use a marbling technique or marbled paper. I'm sure many of us have some book-themed stamps (I have several), but I'm also linking several tutorials and earlier challenges which might give you some inspiration. You could even make a book with marbled endpapers, which I have done in the past with Anita's tutorial, and did again today.
Marbling ideas...
Nail Polish Marbling
Watercolour Marble
Alcohol Marker Marbling
Rolling Marble Background
I think this is close enough to count ~ Alcohol Ink Floating Background (video and description in first post of challenge)
Shaving cream
And for the books...
One Sheet ATC Book
Pop-Up Book Card
Anita's Book Card (pdf tutorial is in first post of the challenge thread)
I hope you'll have fun creating a card inspired by today's challenge. Remember to upload it with the keyword WT741, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card.
Here's a link to our WT741 Marbled Books gallery
Here's a link to my sample:
WT741 Birthday Book (open)
If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Thanks to my team-mates for their wonderful New York Public Library inspired samples: Lisa managed to fit in both a marble technique and books, and Carla has a fabulous background.

Terrific challenge for me, Sabrina. It gave me the chance to use some of the hand marbled paper I had purchased years ago in Florence, Italy. I've always loved the Italian marbling on paper. Thanks.

I am playing my "Challenge Catch-up" cardmaking and catching up on my SCS postings.
The NYC library, a marbled structure, was dedicated in 1911 on this date in history. Show some marbling on your card. I have chosen to use the Shaving Cream technique to make by marbleized background.
Here is my card: It's A Shaving Cream Birthday!
