WT539 ~ Grids or Tiles ~ {07/09/2015

It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week. When I was thinking of this challenge, I was actually due to be hosting last week, which was just a couple of days before DH's birthday...and I was thinking about ideas for masculine cards. I had to switch with Lisa because we were still on holidays last week. Now DH's birthday has been and gone, but the challenge still stands. I was thinking that grids and tiles were quite good for masculine cards...we have several different tutorials linked below, or just make your own spin on the challenge.

Delft Tiles
Faux Tiles
Grid Technique
Faux Tin Tiles
Faux Grid ~ this is an old TLC and a fun one that I have re-visited several times.

You can also use narrow low-tack tape to create a grid, then colour the card with your choice of mediums, and then remove the tape.
Whatever way you choose, I hope you have fun with it!
If you use any of the techniques from the Resources section, remember to upload your card to the relevant gallery: choose "Technique Spotlight" from the main gallery drop-down, and then the appropriate gallery from the sub-gallery options.

When you're finished tiling or got off the grid, upload it with the keyword WT539, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card http://images.splitcoaststampers.com.../icon_wink.gif.

Here's a link to our WT539 Grids or Tiles gallery

I made two samples, one using the grid technique and one with the faux tin tiles:
WT539 On the Grid
WT539 Butterfly on Tin Tiles

If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Thank you, Lisa and Linda, for making such great samples.

WT539 Farm Truck

I had fun with the faux tile technique minus the shimmer type product- used a recycled appt. card for my image- SU's Countryside- and colored with cotton tips dipped in water. Here's Farm Truck

WT539 Tiled Miss You

Did faux tiles and faux stitching on this card- along with some coloring- redid a card that needed some more TLC- added a dark cardstock background and red washi tape. Here's Tiled Miss You- TFL!

Sabrina knows that I love my bkgrd stamps and stencils and I just happened to have a MFT grid stencil to use on my Under the Sea Surprise! card. I know it's certainly not as laborious as many of the grids in the gallery but ... .

Thanks for looking! :)

BobbiesGirl 07-12-2015 05:39 AM

Here's mine. A bit of a challenge for me as I am NOT neat and I think tiles look so neat. I like how it turned out though.
