Default WT976 - What's Baking? - 11/23/2023

It's Sabrina here as your hostess this week. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating it today.

If you're not busy in your kitchen, then maybe you have time for some virtual cooking. Feature some virtual baking on your card today; cookies, pies, birthday cakes, cup-cakes, gingerbread for Christmas cards.
Bonus points if you use a technique using heat, and bonus bonus points if you share a favourite recipe here in this thread - it doesn't have to relate to your card.

We have a tutorial for a gingerbread garland here if you'd like to go for a home decor project:Gingerbread Garland Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Once you've created your baking-themed card, upload it with the keyword WT976, and then come back and share a link here - that makes it easy for people to find your card in case of keyword typos or gallery glitches.

Here's a link to our WT976 What's Baking? gallery

Here's a link to my sample: WT976 Sweet Christmas by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers

If you're not sure how to add a link, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one for your card in the gallery, and one for this thread
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Thanks to the team for their sweet treats! I'll have sone of Polly's pumpkin pie, please. It's easier to get canned pumpkin here than it used to be, but I am pretty sure DH would wrinkle his nose at pumpkin pie, so I haven't had it in years.

We really like this recipe:

SLOW COOKER CHICKEN TACO CHILI

1 can whole tomatoes (or diced) (796 ml)
1 TBSP brown sugar
2 tsp. smoked paprika ( I used sweet smoked paprika)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. chili flakes (optional)
6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (about 650 grams)
1 can black beans, (540 ml), rinsed and drained
2 cups frozen corn
3 TBSP lime juice

Combine the tomatoes, brown sugar, paprika, onion and garlic powders, salt and chili flakes in a slow cooker. Crush with a potato masher or puree with an immersion blender. Add the chicken, turning it over to get every surface coated with the sauce.
Cover and cook on high for 4 hours (it can switch to warm and rest for up to 6 hours after cooking if that suits your timing).
Use two forks to loosely shred the chicken. Stir in the beans, corn and lime juice and cook for about 5 minutes or until piping hot.

fyi: 796 ml is 28 oz
540 ml is 19 oz.

Shirl, that sounds really tasty. Thank you.
I felt bad that I didn't add a recipe myself - maybe today I will get to it as withdrawal has been cancelled at short notice.
