Hi , Linda here this week as your challenge hostess. We are going to be painting whimsical roses. They are basically made from 'C' stroke with blending. I practice making them when warming up to watercolor. You never make the same one twice. I've used arches and cheaper watercolor paper. They both work well.
One advantage of these roses, you can make them any size. I applaud the painters who create images on A2 cards. It is not my forte. When sketching and painting other flowers they usually end up larger than intended. These roses can be controlled to the size you want.
There are numerous videos and artists who have videos on how they make them. I chose this video because she had three variations.

Thanks for the great tutorial Linda! I had so much fun with this one. I haven't even done all three roses yet. But they all seem to be very similar. But Iwill probably do another one. Roses Three

honestly I think I am trying too hard  I now have a stack of some good-ish, some blobs of paint or water blooms roses... but, when I get one I kinda think looks halfway real, then I give it some really bad leaves...
just wanted to let you know I have been messing around with this Linda, and hope to have something to share this weekend sooner or later.
Hi! I've been working away here on this, & finally finished it up today. I couldn't achieve the "whimsical" look that we were shooting for, but I think tha is going to take me A LOT MORE PRACTICE! LOL Here is my card: WCW041- Water Color Roses by TLady at Splitcoaststampers
