VIRTUAL SCRAPBOOKING NIGHT ON SCS!!!! LOOK!!!!
For the first time EVER we are launching a VSBN!!
Virtual Scrapbooking Night!
It is set to launch this APRIL!! April 29th/30th What we will do is have 1 coordinator, and 10 hostesses. This will be a 2 day event that re-occurs every 3 months. Saturdays and Sundays. Each day, 5 hostesses will present 5 challenges beginning at 10 AM PST. Participants will have 2 hours to complete each challenge. Then move on to the next challenge if they choose. You do not have to complete all 10 challenges over the course of the weekend. Just jump in and do the challenges that you want.
Since there are NO UPLOADS on Sundays, we ask that you DO NOT upload your submissions on Sunday. You will have to upload them on Monday. This does not mean upload them on Sunday thinking that the mods will just approve them on Monday, it means NO UPLOADING ON SUNDAY!! (((Hugs))) Thanks.
The deadline will be 3PM PST Every Monday following the VSBN Weekend.
Now for the best part!! We have already selected our very first VSBN Coordinator!! What an HONOR, to be the very first lady to step up and set the pace. So keep your eyes pealed as she will be revealed very very soon!!
Fasten your seatbelts ladies, as this will be the BEST!!
I don't know if this is good or bad but I'm at a scrapbooking retreat that weekend. So....how do I get wireless internet to the retreat...hmmm...thinking outside of the box right now!!
Cindy...can I give a suggestion. Uploading only on Monday by 3:00 PM will be tough for those that work. Could we get the time extended a little later??
I would LOVE to do this but I guess it will depend on what kind of challenges you have! I am "technique challenged".;) Meaning I don't even know half of the techniques or how to do them! But I want to learn!

Don't worry cloudnine, there will be all types of challenges including colour challenges, theme challenges...not just techniques. It is for all levels of scrappers!! Don't be afraid to join in. If you want to 'warm up', give our weekly challenges a try. They are posted every Friday morning under Scrapbook Sketches and Challenges. Go here to find out more: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
will most of the vsbn challenges be vendor-specific? This sounds really fun, but when this event occurs my SU stuff will consist of a single stamp set. Will I be able to play along too?

OH NO!! The challenges will not be vendor specific at all!! You just need paper, pictures, some embellishments etc. Anyone can play! In a week or so, I will post a Shopping List of items that the challenges will require but you DO NOT need to go out and buy everything. You can just use what you have and be creative with the stuff you've got! We'd LOVE to have you join us!!!
I am so sad- I will be away at a work meeting:( - wonder if I can sneak enough stuff in my bag to do 1 or 2 challenges from my hotel room?! What's the high speed internet there for anyway???

Wow This sounds very cool!! since I have found SCS I kinda slacked off on my "personal" scrapbooking...for cards!!! Hopefully this will jump start me back into it my scrapbooking! I have participated in 2 VSNs and they were fun!!!
I will keep my eyes open on these threads!! yay!!!!
Hmmm, I was going to have a National Scrapbooking Crop the following Saturday. Wonder how well it would work to bump it up a week. Could be a lot of fun.

Perhaps you can use the computer at the front desk, they often let people do that. K

Wouldn't it be a riot to see her at the front lobby desk hording the computer with all of her scrapping supplies spews all about. Hair flying in all directions, perspiration dripping....oh the images that brings to mind...LOL
I'm newer to SCS and have done scrapbooking for about 8 years, but never have used sketches, but this may be interesting enough to try a challenge, The hardest part, but challenging would be the time limit. I usually take my time and really think it through, I guess I will also have to learn how to upload, at least, you have given us enough time to prepare for it, if we can.
Do the pages have to have photos on them? Thanks for all the hard work from you and the hostess. Carolyn in Mn

Yes, Carolyn. The pages will need to have photos on them to be official entries for the challenges. That is part of the challenge too, getting some of your pages done with the pictures you have. Good question, though!! Hope you can join in the fun!!!
I have a question about VSBN's or other virtual events, in general. I find that when I am under pressure, such as a time limit, I'm not as creative. (this is a proved theory with many people)...so my question is, how to you set aside the anxiety of getting something that looks great, done within a short amount of time?
TIA
Lynn

Wow, I guess I am just the opposite, usually anyway. I have always been someone who does my best in times of crisis.
I guess my advice for you, is to just remember this is for fun! You don't have to create, scan, and upload before you move on to the next challenge...Now THAT would stress me out!!!
Just have fun with it, only do the challenges that really spark your imagination!
Now start sortin' pictures, and get your workspace organized...you'll be amazed what you can do...and we'd miss ya if you were'nt there to play with us ;)

Well said Sally! I am just like you, I find myself MORE creative when I am under a time limit! I didn't think I would be, but I am! I would say the same to Lynn....just remember that it is for fun and the idea is for these challenges to spark some ideas for you, that you wouldn't normally think of! The point of the challenges is to help you look at your pictures and layouts in a way that you wouldn't normally.....think out of the box! AND also to get some scrappin' done! I really hope you can give it a try and join in our FUN!!!
...if I have all the time in the world, I *take* all the time in the world!!! Then I start over thinking, over analyzing, and *never* finish!! When I have a time limit, I don't over think - I just *do*...and amazingly, I follow my instincts and my projects look *better* than when I spend more time!
As with wrinkles...Time is *not* my friend!!! ~ K

Well, you ladies make some good points. I think I was approaching this as an "all or nothing" concept, and it doesn't have to be that at all. I'm always looking for new ways to do things, and thinking out of my comfort zone isn't always easy, but with pros like you, I'm sure I'll learn more and more.
Thanks for your comments.
Lynn
I haven't read all the posts so please forgive me if this was already addressed but do we have to finish the challenges in the two hours in which the challenge was given? What I mean is, if the challenge is posted at 10 do we need to start right then at 10 and have it finished at 12? Or can we start it at 2 and have it done by 4? We have soccer and church and I want to still be able to participate so I am asking now so I will know for later
