I have to admit - I just finished up my sample page for this challenge this morning I love how the faux leather adds a mNly feel to the page.

I'm here! Well, for about 10 more seconds. I'm going to start lunch. I'll be back though.

I love the challenge! I've read about the faux leather technique but have never done it. Gotta try it!

You are funny. It wasn't hard was it????? I didn't think so. I tried the SCS technique and found the EP didn't stick to the tape. Maybe I did it wrong.

I just finished the other 3 challenges that I didn't do yesterday. Will have to go see how to do this technique and what to use for it. I have stamp club @ 2 so that only leaves me an hour to get this in and get the pics in the gallery and get ready to go. I may wait on this and try it later.

I just came up with a layout idea for this one. the other day we went to the MSPCA and took photos of the horses. If it wasn't too darn hot I could have stayed all day.

It wasn't hard, but I didn't emboss - I thought it would look shiney, and I wanted a rustic look.

It was easy. I made my dad and DH father's card using the faux wood with cork.

I need to make some cards. I've been so busy scrapping lately, that I'm behind on cards. But, I'll have an order coming next week - maybe I'll wait until I get new stuff

Me too!
The challenges have fit with the pics I have on hand. so that has been really cool and I am surprised it has taken about an hour to doeach page. The page I just finished, for Donna's challenge (I still have to take a pic and upload it) took me 1/2 hour. I was surprised!

Ok I think I may print off some fall pics for this challenge and try it out. Hoefully I can come up with something and get it finished before I have to leave. Now off to find the masking tape first then pics (providing we have masking tape.)

I'm sure what ever you come up with will be great... Like I said in my summary I have seen it done in pink for a babies page. If I can find the magazine i will scan the photo.

For stamps I"m getting Priceless and the Classy Brass tmeplate that goes with it, and then the new set with the lighthouse in it and I think it has a boat too. Thought that would be good for masculine things.

I've always been confused by this technique.

Does the masking tape come off... wouldn't it rip the paper?

Or does the masking tape stay on... therefore making the page not acid free?

This one worries me. I hope I don't hurt feelings if I skip it.

Masking tape stays on. For my page, I matted a photo before I put it on the faux leather mat.

I wonder though - if you emboss it all if that would help with the non acid free part? Hmmm.

I don't think any feelings will be hurt if you skip it

Jen - I was just looking at your limited supply challenge - and it would have made a good challenge for this VSBN - make your own background paper with word stamps.

I don't own any clear EP, but I'm glad to hear I won't be hurting feelings. ;) I still need to do F which still has me stumped. But I'm still thinking! I've seen some awesome F pages in the gallery.

No feelings hurt. The tape does stay on. I did mounted some acid free paper at a mount behind them just to buffer it.

As far as acid free is concerned...whenever I am in doubt...I just keep the questionable item off from my pictures. So, in this case...I would add tags with the faux leather technique...KWIM?

Hmmm... Now that's an idea. I wonder if I could incorporate that into an F page?

F was the hardest for me, but probably the most heartfelt one that I did.

that is a great idea. It does not have to be the whole page. It can be whatever elements you can come up with.
