Scrappin' Challenge #2 - This is NOT vsbn

CHALLENGE #2
Scrapbookin' is supposed to be about our "lives". A book that details what was going on in our family at that time. It's REALLY easy to scrapbook about fun events (i.e. vacation, birthdays, school, etc)....but what about those events that aren't as pleasant or fun? Do you include those? I call them "life moments" and I've just gotten better about putting them in.

Challenge -- do a page that's a "life moment" for you. It could be anything but be sure to journal your thoughts on this page. BONUS POINTS for using lots of punchs (or diecuts) for this page...could be corner punchs, shape punchs, diecut shapes. Let's use those tools we have

cla616 01-27-2008 03:15 PM

hmm, you mean we are supposed to keep the pictures of those kinds of things?? btw I am really glad your son is ok, I never got a chance to send hugs your way, and truly a life lesson learned

Mary_Pat419 01-27-2008 03:24 PM

I'm amazed how you can all chat and scrap...I can't walk, talk & chew gum at the same time! I just finished the first...took an hour 1/2 since I started. I'll get it up later. Hope you're all having fun like me...though my husband changed the channel, is sitting on the bed, and watching me run around like a chicken w/out it's head :-)

I used to have a hard time because the office was downstairs where the internet was but now that we have wireless (yeah! Christmas), I can have my laptop in my scrap room....woohoo! Alittle better about both...

hehe - my laptop died recently. hubby and I are waiting for our tax refund to replace it. He has a little laptop - very little, that I can't stand - too hard to type on.
I told him today I decided a laptop was better than a desk top, because I could take it downstairs rather than printing out all the samples I love. I think I convinced him on that - he is tired of seeing all these ideas floating all over the house :)

Ohhh...when your laptop dies....ick! I hated running up and down...probably good exercise though?

cla616 01-27-2008 03:51 PM

i don't have to run up and down, I could bring hubby's laptop downstairs, but then I would never get a page done :)

now just waiting for the pictures to dry before I cut and paste them on to pages :)

How green are you?

Challenge 2, complete. Pulled out my old CM punches...those concentric sized punches are still the best punches going...lot 'o miles on those little suckers, punched a lot of stars, hearts, circles and squares...never did buy the hexagon, though.... anyway...

Here's the next question: How green are YOU? Do you have a recycling bag for all the packaging your new (purchased pre-challenge!) scrap toys and stickers and such? Do you keep a waste paper and recycled paper bin on the go? ...do you re-use items from around the house for storage in your scrap nook, or for altering and gift creating/giving?!?

How green are we... as we play in this paper industry? Me, I've got a garbage bin, a recycled papers bin, and a recycled plastics bin on the go. I do sometimes chuck things that could be recycled, and sometimes I try to recycle things I think aren't...but.... at least we're trying right?! Al Gore would be proud! ;)

cla616 01-27-2008 04:17 PM

alright, my decision to get the weight off is now scrapped. Amazing thing is I weigh less now than the day we got married, 3.5 years ago, and I have a 13 month old - and weigh less than I did 8 years ago, I think I am doing good. Can't wait to share :)

Oh yea - I am determined to use up that SS KIt :) Now to figure out what to put on the facing page to keep it flowing as the year goes on.

cla616 01-27-2008 04:19 PM

oh no, I forgot about the other part of the challenge - lots of punches, I was so focused on the life moment. Hmm, may have to scrap something else, but I did use SS Kit die cuts ... maybe I can add a couple more things to it :)

Very cool to journal about your weight loss! Good for you to get it down...the scale, and the story! ;-)

I have a daughter on 12/23....similar birthday dates at our houses...

yep it was interesting with Christmas this year, we managed to celebrate earlier in December, but I know it will get harder as she gets older and tougher to separate.
and thanks on the kudos on the weight. :)

thanks down, 23 pounds, love nutrisystem. we were faithful for a few months, not so much the past 6, but the weight stayed off, just pudged out a little. so been back on it 2 weeks, and at my lowest in years. Still want to lose about 20 more, since the old BMI is way high, but I am fairly muscular, so I don't really look at the number too much, cause I am 5'0, but definitely larged frame (no I am not just saying that either, it's true!)
Hey - I get to change the sig again - 3 down, 1 to go this month, hehehe

tbush 01-27-2008 05:27 PM

Here's my second challenge!! It's my DS first advancement in Boy Scouts (since I seem to be on a scout roll).

//www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...91619?cat=3592

And I used another of the sketches from the first challenge too ... the one I changed my mind on for the first challenge.

Oops ... I forgot to use punches. I'll do better next time.

Not a problem, I have more "detailed" instructions (w/picts, LOL) if you happen to need it. It's fun to know though...

I did finish this challenge, but decided not to upload it as my 7 yrs old dd didn't have a t-shirt on & I'm a bit wary about what I put *out there*. The page was about how she broke her arm on the first day of the last lot of school holidays. Very traumatic for all us (especially her & her Dad as he was basically responsible in a very accidental way :( (Do not let father's play aeroplane rides with your children!!!!!). Her little arm was so swollen & bruised & sore. But she is a little trooper & was very brave!

Why don't you put a post-it over dd and upload it? We'd love to see your lo! :D

grammawamma 01-31-2008 08:09 PM

Rockin Babies

I uploaded this entry on the Jan thread, but maybe it should go here so all the challenges are together.

Double page spread
Left page
Right page

This is not a traumatic life moment, just life as it happens. It is everyday life at my dd's house!

cware84 01-31-2008 08:18 PM

So, I am hoping that since it is still January here in Hawaii my two pages that I just completed will count. That will get me to my goal! I will post them and get a link back here.

So glad you "dressed" your dd & uploaded! Poor baby! She looks so pained! My dd was about that age when she broke her wrist on the trampoline! You did a great job on the lo!
