It's a challenge Sharon - I don't know if I can do a page with no ribbon or brads I'll have to think about this one.

WOW! Sharon...this is such a GREAT challenge. A challenge that is dear to my heart...as I have mainly basics myself. I figure it forces you to be more creative..right? Question...If you make a tag out of cardstock and your paper cutter...is that fair? I promise no brads and even no string!

Hmmm...... an embellishment made out of cardstock...... ;) I would say yes as long as you use it for journaling or something along those lines, and you can't use punches or ribbons or string for it.

ETA--- let me clarify that it can not be a premade tag. That is still considered an embellishment.

yes you can use patterned paper, I consider patterned paper to be the same as cardstock.

ROFL Kimmie! I figured it would be hard for you seasoned scrappers.
I have been stamping for over 5 years but I stamp cards. I don't stamp scrapbook pages. Just started that a few months ago so I had to do a challenge for beginners. Then I thought it would definately be a challenge for seasoned stampers too.

Another questions for Sharon - is a hole punch a basic? I am so loving how my page is turning out - and there's no ribbon on it!

Metallic pens, no, scissors, yes. BUT! No decorative scissors.

ETA--- that doesn't mean you can't use regular scissors to cut in a decorative way. ;)

Nope, no white gel pen either. The only pen you can use is for journaling. Sorry!

I guess that's the good thing about being a beginner scrapper. It wasn't hard for me. I'm not used to putting a lot of embellishments on.

Sharon - here's my page

Baseball
I used some now retired SU sets/wheel that were some of the very first stamping things that I bought! I think this was my very fist wheel in fact! I wheeled it like my first time as well - crooked! But I'm not fixing it - I'll call it character! or something!

Here we go time for snacks on the long flight, how about caramel corn??
When I read the challenge I thought I wouldn't be able to do this--even ds said "That is a challenge for you not to use embellishements" But I had a brainstorm and decided to do a page for his cookbook. One I'm scrapping for when he goes off to college next year. We quickly made a batch of caramel corn and photographed some before and after pictures. That made my background paper, typed up the recipe and put it on cardstock and then a little graphic art (drawing not Stamping) and some ink sponged around the edges with a title printed from the computer, and presto-- chango -- a page without embellishments and ds has some snacks to munch on. We are both happy.

Microwave Caramel Corn Recipe Page

Scanner cut off a little of the upper edge.

I know how tempting it is to NOT add something "else" to your page, but I think you'll find that it looks lovely just the way it is!

I used some now retired SU sets/wheel that were some of the very first stamping things that I bought! I think this was my very fist wheel in fact! I wheeled it like my first time as well - crooked! But I'm not fixing it - I'll call it character! or something!
I can't make a wheel go straight to save my life. ;) Character is good!
