ugh - I have everything too, Melanie - but MAYBE we'll need a couple of extras or new things, you know?! Yep, pretty sure I better add to my stash! you know, just in case!
Well, I am short on a whole bunch of things. I am wondering about the glossy cardstock. Do I need different colors?? or should I stick to white??
Same with embossing powders -- I haven't reached them yet on my wish list so if I were to purchase some for the VSBN, other than clear is there a certain color I should get? Perhaps it should coordinate with the colors in my pictures that i will likely be using??
thanks for the input -- I have such a limited budget for my scrapbooking addiction that i have to make sure I spend it wisely ;-)
I also have a limited budget for supplies. I only have white glossy cardstock. Colors are not easy to buy in my area. White is great for all kinds of techniques and does not clash with anything on the page. If a certain color is needed, you can always ink it with your brayer.
With EP, I started stamping with pigment inks so I started out with only clear EP so I could use the colored ink and then emboss it. It was more versatile for just starting off. I still do that instead of colored EP. I do like the metallic EP and now LOVE holographic EP too to add a little sparkle. There are some instances where a colored EP is prefered or needed for a certain effect. If you have the money, try it. If not, the above should work or if you do not have pigment or craft ink, covering your stamped image with Versamark should work as well. Keep looking though because the co-ordinators who know all the challenges and know better than me may disagree.

Good explanation, Taryn!
Like Charmed said in the above post, clear embossing powder is fine for VSBN. You will definitely need clear EP for one of the challenges and clear EP will work for other challenges as well. But, you are more than welcome to get any colors of EP that you wish! I find that I use black, copper, and silver most often.....but it is really just a preference!
And you'll only need white glossy cardstock, not any other colors!

heh heh heh ;)
Do I use what I have? Do I buy more stuff? Hmmmm...
I have heard of using the craft inks and crear EP and that will likely be the way I go, however, I don't think that I could get it ordered and delivered to Can. in time for VSBN. Besides, I am on a strick "scrapbook diet" and I can't spend too much. I think i will just get the clear and the heat tool and use versamark for now (hopefully it will still work well for the challenges).
Can't wait to play -- preparing my family that I will be "on an out of town flight" for a few days !! :-)

Yes, make sure your family knows you'll be going out of town on a big vacation!!!!!!
The clear EP will be just fine for the challenges!!! I use clear EP all the time! I think you'll find it is very useful once you start using it and see all the different possibilities it has!

Question on the photos...can they be anything, or do you sometimes have a theme page (birthday, holiday, etc.)? Mine are packed away from remodeling so I'd need to dig them out if there are certain themes to go with...

They can be anything. Sometimes there might be a challenge with themed photos. Unfortunately there is no way to predict. It would be best to have a variety of photos. It wouldn't hurt to look through the previous challenges to get an idea of what you might need.
If there is a challenge you don't have photos on hand, you can either work on previous challenges missed or if you know you have the perfect photos for that particular challenge, you can spend the time and dig out the photos and then start timing your 2 hrs for the challenge once they are found. Remember, you do not have to do the challenge within 2 hrs after the challenge is posted but the layout must be done within 2 hrs and uploading by the deadline.

Holli....
For MOST of the challenges you can use any photos! I can't give away any other details than that at this point (heheheheh.......), but even for the "theme" challenges, you can certainly get creative with types of photos you use for the challenge. The whole point of VSBN is to get LOTS of scrappin' done in a short amount of time, so we want VSBN to be fun for you and not too stressful! And, if you have to skip a challenge, that's fine too!
Let us know if you have other questions!

I have a quick question: Will photo paper work if I don't have glossy card stock. I know I really need to buy some but I just haven't had the opportunity yet!

I noticed when people posted their pages that they often rewrote the journaling in the description so we could read it. My 1st question is, is that something we need to do or should do? Secondly, I almost always do my pages as a 2 page spread. Is that still considered my *one* page design? It's not really 2 separate submissions. Sorry if these are silly questions...

I use photo paper for my glossy.

Holly- I don't think you HAVE to include what your journaling says, some of us are jusy nosey and want to know I usually include mine if it's short, but I don't if it's personal. For your second question, I've always assumed a dps is one design.

I am pretty sure it will work! I suggested it for someone else for this weekend too.....mholles said that's what she uses, so you should be fine!

Sorry I couldn't get back to you earlier, I had a hard time staying connected on SCS earlier today...
Rewriting your journaling is totally up to you! If it is personal or you just don't want to type it all out, no biggie! However, for some of the VSBN challenges, some of the judges will really want to see journaling, so you might want to include it (if you want to).
2 page spreads (also called "dps" on this site, which stands for "double page spread) are considered one entry for VSBN. One page layouts and two page layouts are both perfectly okay for every challenge for VSBN. Two separate submissions would be if you did two totally different layouts and uploaded them separately. Make sense?
See you tomorrow!!!! ;) Let us know if you have more questions! We'll be around all weekend, so you will get your questions answered much more quickly tomorrow and Sunday!
