Did you know the game of football is based on the game of rugby and it made its North American debut in Canada?
Here's an (edited) exerpt from Wikipedia:
"Football was first introduced to North America in Canada. In 1874, Harvard hosted McGill (Montreal) to play the new game. Many of the differences between the Canadian (CFL) and American (NFL) games came out of this original home and home series where each home team set the rules.
For instance, Harvard, because of a lack of campus space did not have a full-sized field. Theirs was only 100 yards long by 50 yards wide with undersized endzones. To generate more offence, the number of downs was also increased by Harvard to 4 from 3 as set by McGill. Both the Canadian and American games still have some differences..."
Summary - CFL: bigger field, larger endzone, 10 yard 'no mans land' in the middle of the field, 3 downs.
SO, here are the ground rules of my CFL challenge:
1) The larger field; I want you to find some 'open space' on your page -either in the 'endzones' or the middle.
2) Three downs; everything should be in multiples of three - three pictures, six embellishments, nine letters in the title.... that sort of thing.
3) and since it's a FASTER game, this is a speed challenge! Please post how long it took you to complete your page!
Here's my sample page - Canada Day
it took me 55 minutes to complete (I think that might be a record for me!:mrgreen: )
bonus points: I'd love to see some red and white ) - but the addition of blue is always very welcome!
And now for the fine print...

Shoot - I was hoping the challenge would be to scrap some pictures of Canada We went to BC for vacation this year and I still have pictures I need to scrap.

lol - me too! I always cover every square inch. I thought it should be a challenge for ME too. (in fact, I didn't get as much white as I was going for when I actually made the page :rolleyes: )

Oh funny! I've been trying to be better about it....:eek: Just takes alittle work for me to STOP adding picts or embellishments to fill every space, hahahahahaha

That sounds nice, Darcy. I'm all in favour of spending nice, chatty times with dh's :mrgreen: especially important to get that kind of thing done as often as possible NOW - cause you won't have much time to later I think!!

I'm sitting here in the LR online w/ you gals & my DH is sitting here next to me watching TV. Just since Sept has this happened in our lives for the first time in YEARS. Both our boys now highschoolers go to Friday night football games so it's just the 2 of us.... VERY different for us. LOL!
Yeah for you Darcy! I wouldn't trade any of those moments. :o

Well I started...then ran out of ink to print pics here. I'll finish tomorrow after I send out for pics or pick up ink. I love printing at home because I can size my pics but the downside is running out of ink when you're in the creative mood ;-) I think I'm about 15-20 minutes into this layout but it's simple so I was expecting to only take another 15-20.

Tonight after the football game the band is doing a GLOW Concert. They tape glow sticks on the yardlines and on all of the band members pant legs, turn off all the lights and they play some songs. Since it's my son's first year in the Marching Band, he wants me to come and watch so I'm off for an hour or so to see/hear their Glow Concert.
I'll be back about 10 -ish!

I know I should order pictures for these occassions but I really do love to size my pics and I don't plan ahead enough...sigh...I need to get better at that!

MP... if you are around, I posted to your challenge and when I went to check out the other pages for the challenge, yours were not there and I am not sure who elses or why. Christmas Pup & mine are the only pages showing up... Did I do something wrong?

DUH! Thanks Emily (stampinout) for pm'ing me the link! I'm not sure what I was looking at when I went to the Line Up. I was so interested in the challenges that I read the ones there and without scrolling down to the other post, went off to look for another thread with those details! Guess I should go to bed soon so I'll be awake enough to make sense tomorrow!
