I AM SO EXCITED TO KICK OFF THE “WHAT'S COOKING” VSBN!!!
I know for many people cooking is a passion. Well, that's not me! I do not like to cook!!! However, I do like to eat and in my family we have many food favorites, bordering on the edge of being passions! Everyone has a favorite something...or a passion. Think about it while I tell you about my husband...
My husband is a beer collector. Yes, he really is. Yes, he drinks it, but as a connoisseur, not a guzzler. Think about your passion and love for stamps or designer paper and just substitute that with craft beer, and you have my husband's passion! We have a routine. Every time my husband opens and tries a new beer, I take his picture with the bottle and a picture of the bottle poured into the proper glass. The purpose for this is to scrapbook his beer “journeys”. Yeah, I do love him that much! I leave room on the pages for him to journal about the beer. Sometimes I include what I know about the particular beer and any other important info. If possible, I like to include a bottlecap, the font of the company, or a die cut that matches the beer.
Why am I telling you all of this????
I am telling you this because my challenge to you is to scrap a favorite or passion. I'd like you to include a picture of that favorite alone and with the lover of it. Now it doesn't have to be food, as you can see my hubby's passion is a beverage. It can be a sport or hobby or even a person! Don't have pictures of the exact thing? Find some online or make one as a die cut. I'd love for your layout to use a diecut of the item or a recognizable label. Bonus points if you use a font that goes with your item as part of your journaling or title. You also MUST journal about your favorite. Why is it your passion or favorite???
I can't wait to see what everyone's passions are! I have included some pages that are part of my hubby's album and that include the elements I have asked you for.
Below I have included many examples of the pages I have done for his passion. Including pages with diecuts and brand specific fonts.

Sorry that I don't have samples up yet. I am having serious uploading issues. I keep getting told my pics are too big, but it says there is no file size limit, and I have never had that problem!!!

It can be the passion of anyone you scrap. I can't seem to scrap myself at all! However, I truly enjoy doing this album for my hubby!

I really wanted to do my dh with his cycling but I don't have any recent photos...so need to get some  However, DD2 is crazy about Lacrosse (LAX)...have plent of those photos! __________________

Hi everyone, I am brand new here. I really want to give this a try. I assume it has to be a passion related to food and/or drink right?
Does the 2 hours include the brainstorming ideas or just the actual scrapbooking? I am having trouble figuring out what I want to do! lol

Welcome, Steph!! It does not have to be a food related passion. My pages just happen to be...You can scrap any passion! The two hours does include everything, but just do the best you can to squeeze it in there. No one is gonna hunt you down for going over time!

OK, well my passion is dog rescue work (both dog transports and fostering). So I'm doing a layout of some of the dogs I've rescued.

That is awesome!! I wish I had the patience for that, but after spending all day with first graders and coming home to a Boxer, Great Dane and Weiner dog, I am pooped!!

My daughter's passion is dancing so I am thinking about doing that. I probably won't get much done in 2 hours, as I am new to scrapbooking in general, but this will be awesome practice for me!

Natalie - when you are uploading your pictures, when you edit them, they cannot be larger than 2048 x 2048. I too have no size limit, but they changed it a while ago that this is the largest size you can upload.

Sorry I'm running late! I got caught in a terrible traffic jam due to accident that added 2.5 hours to my trip home tonight 
Also, my youngest DS is having a party here so I had to run around getting all the last minute details done for him.

Okay, I think I am ready to begin this one. While I was waiting for VSBN to begin, I had started making a card for QFTD. I am done and have that uploaded. And I found my photos for this one. Passion and a die cut, right? a special font,(don't know how I wil do that one! LOL) and journal! Have I got it?

Okay back for now...papers pulled, photos cut and made my own embellishment on the computer...just going to eat dinner then put it all together.
Natalie, I use Photoshop Elements.
Lela...UGGGHHHHH! Stuck in traffic for that long is horrible...it happened to us one time and I was about to go batty! And brave you for having a party tonight! Hope DS has fun __________________

Just saw on the news a car caught fire so that's what shut down the highway for so long. By the time I got there, it must have been towed away. Ugh!

I have to telll you what my DH just said. He asked me what I was doing, and I told him I was doing a page on him and his passion golf. He said just do a page of myself, and that was his passion! wasn't that sweet! Just had to share.

yes, I was stir crazy after about 30 minutes. Thank goodness for cell phone/blackberry. I was able to get some emails returned.
As far as the teenage party...well...I lived through one last year. The kids that were the craziest I asked not to be invited back so we compromised and hopefully it will go well.
It's a beautiful night (72) for bon fire and music outdoors so I hope they have fun. We're expecting about 20? I see 6 or 7 already here so that's good! |
