Kim, I'm another who doesn't like fish or seafood. I think my aversion comes from when I was a kid, my dad loved to fish for pan fish, but did not filet the fish, so we had to deal with bones, and got a few stuck in throat. I will eat fish fry, but it has to be battered and deep fried and loaded with tartar sauce, so what's the point. I can handle canned tuna, but that's it. DH loves sea food, but he now does his own cooking, so he eats it several times a week.

Just wondering if people have favorite flowers or fun flower stories? My maternal grandmother had huge garden of bearded iris. All colors and styles. She lived in Utah with snowy winters so the iris had a brief season when spring came. I always loved to visit her when the iris were blooming. It seemed to correspond with the ice melting and the little stream across the street was flowing at it's height. So many sights and sounds associated with visiting her home.

What a wonderful memory, Sonja!

I remember how pretty our spring tulips would be. I grew up in northern Illinois, where the start of spring was always unpredictable. But usually we had a good batch in time for the traditional May Crowning at our parish which would be the 1st or 2nd week of May. Even though red is not my favorite color, I always loved the red tulips. The Color looked so bold against the green leaves.

I still love tulips. We plant them occasionally but chipmunk get to the bulbs more often than not.

In 2018, my dh worked for a company based in London. That May, we spent some time there with our boys and took a tour of the country-side. We were walking around this little village near Cotswold and in front of a cottage were some beautiful, rich red poppies. I had never seen them in real life and didn't realize they would be as large as a platter. I honestly asked the lady with us if they were real. She looked at me like I had horns on my head, but thankfully didn't laugh at me.
On that same walk, we passed by a village house with the most gorgeous lavender wisteria hanging over the door. Made me think of Georgia in the spring. So beautiful!

Just checking into the chat thread. I'm wishing the real deal started this weekend as everything is closing (due to COVID-19) and it's a good time to be home and stamp some pretty things. Here in southern CA even Disneyland and Universal just announced closures. Theaters are dark and schools are all going to on-line formats starting next week. I predict lots of cards will be made at my house. Luckily I have a nice stock of wine as well.

Lots of stuff closing everywhere, so I am stamping too!

Recently I got a box of SU goodies, including a sale-a-bration order. One of my freebies was some pretty floral designer paper, which I will likely use for a VSN sample or two.

But I realized I never even opened last year's SAB paper!
So I am making a bunch of cards with that today. Several sketch challenge cards, and a few non-challenge cards just to get it used up. It has lots of pretty butterfly patterns.

I am happy to be stamping multiple cards in one day; haven't done much of that this year. But with the "social distancing" I will be stamping a lot and enjoying some podcasts and audio books.

I have a feeling we're all going to be housebound for several weeks so VSN will be a good distraction. Good idea Misti to color images to have ready for cards...and since we know that the theme is flowers that gives everyone a heads up. Stay positive everyone...

I updated the shopping list!

Florapalooza Shopping List! - Splitcoaststampers

Hope you have these items; it might be difficult to obtain new stuff by next Friday.

That's right! NEXT FRIDAY we go LIVE

Since we cannot send our family out to the movies or even the state parks (at least in Illinois) consider how you can involve them in the challenges.
We do have one challenge specifically with kids in mind early Saturday afternoon, but many others can be kid friendly as well.

We hope to see wonderful creations, and maybe pictures of the fabulous creators too!

Minnesota State Parks are open...but everything else is limited to gatherings of 10 and under...

I have space in my stamp room for ONE person besides myself...I hope to participate since the Quilt Retreat has been cancelled...I make all their food.

Now I can make cards.

I’m going to play and I may get our poppets to play in the kids challenge through FaceTime. I’d love to video it and may ask DIL1 to do that and share it with you if she doesn’t mind. We shall see if we can do it. It’s DH’s birthday next weekend and I guess all family get togethers will be canned now...no idea. We are just taking one day at a time and I’m trying to create every day.

Keep safe and well everyone and happy creating.

Misti they both look like a challenge to this card maker! That doesn't have to be a bad thing, it just is what it is.

I'm getting so excited! I made a card yesterday, but it took me all afternoon to color so I can't save it for the 1 hour VSN challenges! I'll post it in my gallery. So looking forward to next weekend!

I read some tips for VSN and see that it was suggested to have precut cards, backgrounds and colored images made for VSN ahead of time. I've been coloring flowers for VSN, but I wanted to double check that it's OK to use precolored flowers for the one hour time limit. I posted a card, but will redo it if this is not OK.

Gracie, yes, it's always been fine to use pre-coloured images. It's never worked for me, but that's just because of my own personal creative process. I'm not good at using pre stamped or coloured images. Even ones I do when sick in bed or on holidays take a lot of effort to actually use. So you are fine.

I started the watercolor tissue VSN Mini Challenge yesterday, and left it to dry. I Want to make it a card today and do another VSN Mini Challenge. I would like to have the minis and peeks done before the main event begin.
I missed the mini, because of my broken wrists, so playing catch up.
I still hurt when pushing down on the Misti. I have a rough time with punches, don’t have strength. And get frustrated with the SU! Ink pads, and these are the older ones. I don’t have the newer ones.
But anyway, hurt or not, I am playing! LOL

Sharon, could you use your elbows to press down on your Misti? The reason I'm thinking that is there used to be some Tupperware containers that you could do that to close them. I don't know what strength you have there, but it would be worth a try.

Thanks Melody, especially about the Tupperware. Never thought of that. I will try that with the Misty, too, as my wrists hurt when I do that.

I got all the Minis done. Maybe later I will try the peeks.

I just took a walk, it finally is sunny, although a little cool and breezy. Now to rest, because I didn’t sleep last night.

Thanks Sabrina, I ended up making another card for the Mini Big Blooms any way. I hear you, once I start creating, it's hard for me to use something I colored or created previously.

Good for you Sharon! We went shopping today...scored TP package at Walmart! Yay! They limited each person to 1 package! Thank goodness.
Then, we walked dogs and neighbors were on their deck and asked us to stop and visit for awhile, so we ended up there for several hours. No stamping for me today! LOL

I haven’t been in my craft room for 2 days and when I feel like going I do something else. I need a big virtual push ladies.

Also, I was wondering if it’s possible to have a shopping list for the children’s challenge this time in advance as I would love to pull out items and get them to my grandchildren’s home before the weekend so they can join me on FaceTime and do the challenge. We aren’t seeing them right now and they asked to come and craft with me today. It is heartbreaking. Any possibility whoever the hostess is please?

Keep safe and well.

We aren’t seeing them right now and they asked to come and craft with me today. It is heartbreaking. Any possibility whoever the hostess is please?

Keep safe and well.
I asked Ann to check this out for you.

Now get your butt in that craft room! LOL

All you need is paper for the kids challenge! It's fun and easy!

Any kind of thin paper is the key with your favorite colors that you love to see on flowers!

I read the challenges then go away and "think" I know the challenge, make a card then realize that I didn't "really" do the challenge but I did make a card!!!!

Will see if I can read the challenge and understand it this time...

Thankful to have a birthday card made so it wasn't a total loss

LOL I do that too! You made me feel better about doing that! I get in creative mode and then, realize I've gone way off track!
