MAY10VSNE ~ Friday, May 28th ~ 10:00pm EST ~ Try Something NEW!!!
Title: Try Something NEW!!
Hostess: Rebekah, joyfullyhis
Keyword: MAY10VSNE
Day/Date: Friday, May 28th
Time: 10:00pm EST
Aaaahhh....spring!!! Who doesn't love the sound of a gentle rain falling on new buds, green grass, and soft, brown earth??!! After a long winter of snow (about 4 feet here in Western PA!!), when I see the rain, I am reminded of my dad's favorite saying: "You don't have to shovel rain!!" I heartily agree
But now that I've thoroughly bored you by my long explanation of how wonderful spring showers are (I'm suffering from a terrible case of cabin fever!!) let's get to the fun part - the challenge!!! To me, spring means new life and new beginnings - baby robins in their nests, little seedlings popping up, wobbly-legged colts, buds popping open after a long winter.....you get the picture And this new life is always accompanied by the soft May showers!! So here is my challenge: DO something NEW!!!!!! Whether it is a new technique, a new color combo, a new stamp set that you'd forgotten you got for Christmas, or anything else that's new for you - show it to us!!!!! And while you create, be reminded that May showers bring about new life and new beginnings!!! Most importantly: HAVE FUN!!!!!!
One more thing (you don't have to do it if you don't want to) Everywhere you look, the color green is all around us!!! So this is just a 'dessert' option for you: add a bit of green to your card!! It can be 'green' as in the color green, or it can be 'green' as in something earth-friendly (e.g. recyled paper) Whatever your green option is, I'm sure it will turn out fabulous when combined with something new!!
For my sample, {click here to see it} since I spent $80 on ribbon (I have no idea why I just wrote that - please don't tell anyone!!!) I figured that worked out great for the 'new' part of my card!!! And since I don't have any 'environmentally sound (akagreen)' supplies, I just used the color. Really looking forward to seeing your submissions!!!
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON Monday May 31, 2010.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, MAY10VSNE, when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your layout is seen.

Great challenge as I have quite a bit of stuff that I still haven't used. Hmmm, where to start? I may wait until tomorrow to do this one. By the way, I am SOOO impressed with all the beautiful cards people are making, and they have time to chat and take pictures, upload, etc., etc. I'm worn out! This is so much fun!
Who's ready for the last challenge of the night??!!
Whooops - sorry all!!! I guess I should have checked the schedule and seen that this was NOT the last challenge of the night!!! Be sure to check out Bailmac's challenge that was just posted!!!

Great challenge Rebekah - I chose a new stamp set and a technique I'd only ever done once before a very long time ago, so that's kinda new too!!!! I also used the colour green!! Here's my sample:

Ok, Rebekah, I tried two new things- Z Fold and Black Magic. I hope you like the results! And, I really did keep within 45 minute easily. I guess I am getting faster. Thanks for the great challenge that everyone could participate in. Here's what I came up with:
I'm totally new to all of this, so hopefully I was successful in attaching a couple of images of my card for this challenge. I haven't seen it pop up on the challenge gallery yet. Does it sometimes take awhile?
I've been wanting to try the Zentangle technique, so thanks, Rebekah, for giving me an excuse. Here's my New Zentangle. It took most of the 45 minutes to do all the doodling.

(It's on the gallery now. Must just take a little while sometimes.)

Oh no kidding!!! I have a slew of items that I have NEVER used or completely forgot I had! I pulled out a 6x6 paper pack that I have never used, it was buried in my scraps and has been there for probably two years! I also used a new stamp from Mint Motif for my sentiment and some new ribbon I just purchased. I also made a flower out of the ribbon, which is actually a new technique for me! It's new all around, although I like the "old" look of the card! ;)
I used my new Elzybells stamps on this Bird Song & Houses card. I had loads of things I could have chosen for this one - does that mean I buy too much stuff? LMAO
here is my card finally....I'm really into recycling so wanted to include that in....The gal is cut from an old greeting card that has been altered and realtered and passed back and forth between BFF and I for several yrs. now....
