DEC17VSNA ~ Take a Walk on the Boardwalk by beadfreak22 ~ Friday, Dec. 8, 5 pm ET
Challenge Title: Take a Walk on the Boardwalk
Hostess: beadfreak22
Keyword: DEC17VSNA
Date: December 8, 5:00 P.M., ET
I grew up in the 60s, one of four children, three cats, and two dogs. We spent most of our playtime outdoors in those days, but on rainy or very cold days, we'd stay inside and play board games. One of our favorites was Monopoly. The game would often drag on for hours, until someone got cranky or tired, or hungry. I loved that game! I especially loved the cute miniature tokens you'd get to fight over... er, I mean move around the board. Do you remember which one was your favorite? I do!
This challenge is to use an image representing one of the Monopoly tokens, on your card. Your choices are: a thimble, a car, a ship, a dog, a hat, a wheelbarrow, a cat, a shoe, a rubber ducky, a t-rex, or a penguin.
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10 P. M. EST ON Sunday, December 17.
2. You have 1 hour to complete the challenge, unless otherwise noted.....you do not have to count prep time!
3. We have a special gallery for the Game Night VSN.
a) From the "Main Gallery" dropdown list on the first page of the uploader, choose Events and Special Collections.
b) From the Sub-gallery dropdown list, choose Virtual Stamping and Scrapbooking Nights ~ it's the last in the list.
c) From the new sub-gallery dropdown list choose Game Night - it's the very top of the list.
4. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
5. Please do not combine VSN challenges...but you may combine any other challenges with a VSN challenge!
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your layout is seen. THANKS SO MUCH FOR PLAYING ALONG!!!
Super challenge. i am always in need pf pet sympathy cards for my friends little pet shop so this was an easy quick card for me to grab stuff and cut and glue quick.
I don't have the new pieces either. We used to fight over the dog and race car. I'd also use the top hat and wheelbarrow if I didn't get the dog. I never wanted the iron!
I still don't like irons!

Whee! Here is mine. I already had this image colored , so only had to die cut it and use the sketch to put it together. Thank you for the easy challenge!!!! Oh, my favorite token is the wheel barrow, but could be the dog , too! Sometimes someone else gets your piece first, so you have to have a second fave.
I had never heard of rubber ducky, a t-rex, or a penguin in Monopoly. Of course our last Monopoly game was the Deluxe Anniversary Edition probably 30 years ago! That is fairly new to us. The other one would have been 50 years ago!!! LOL
I have to admit when I chose the wheelbarrow for this challenge, I thought I was being "unique." Boy was I wrong! LOL I didn't use the wheelbarrow in the game often, and only had one stamp that has one. I just knew I needed something that could be made into a Christmas card.
But I am loving the cards in the gallery already!

Mine was a wheelbarrow card, too. I rarely played monopoly as a child, and as an adult, I get a little freaked by the whole concept. I think I'm allergic to greed/profit. I'd have made a disastrous business person!

I have been thinking of when my brothers and I used to play monopoly when we were kids! My second oldest brother always won and took us for everything we had!! LOL!!
I don't remember though what my playing piece was during this run to poverty!!
I selected the token of the ship so that I could force myself to make a masculine card, which is what I am always in need of in my stash. Here is my card:

I love playing Monopoly. But rarely get the chance to play. I don't remember a cat piece. It would have been my favorite. I do however remember my mom's favorite piece so I'm going to make a card with her favorite piece. Be back in a bit with my card.
My great nephew at one time had such an obsession with Monopoly we had to play it every time we were together...whew! It was more Monopoly than I played as a kid.. I chose the thimble...I think they took that one away:(
Thanks for the challenge, Kat. This one is really special to me and hits home. We lived three miles outside of Atlantic City for decades and I know every inch of the place and can relate to every Monopoly property in real life. I worked at Bally's "Park Place" for twenty years so of course that is always the most coveted property for me when we play the game.
When we were kids I always wanted to be the shoe for some reason. I'm pretty old and they didn't have penguins back in my day but I saw them on the list and went with them DEC17VSNA Penguin Carolers by sleepyinseattle at Splitcoaststampers
Thanks again!!!

One from me, and funny true story I have pieces not on the list.
(one I am not sure what it is only that no one ever chose it I think it might be some kind of cannon type thing?)
Finally had a chance to make another card for VSN! I've had this one in my head since I saw the challenge first posted, but just no time to sit down & do any stamping this week! Bleah! I used a shoe on my card.
