Title: Line 'Em Up!
Hostess: meerkat3 (Leslie)
Keyword: SEP12VSNA
Day/Date: Friday, Sept 21st
Time: 5:00pm EST
EEEP! I'm first! (no pressure)
Welcome to the September 2012 Back To School Virtual Stamp Night! Let's get this show on the road!
When I was a kid, I could not wait for the first day of school. Back then we didn't have the frenzy of Back-To-School shopping lists. Nope. All we needed was a 3-ring binder; a pencil holder that fit in the front of the 3-ring binder that held pencils (#2, sharpened), a pencil sharpener, a small ruler, maybe scissors; and best of all: notebook paper. White, with blue horizontal lines, and a red vertical line separating the three punched holes from the area in which you wrote. Ah, the good old days.
Did you know there were (maybe still are) different kinds of lined notebook paper? Yep. Some were narrower than others (smaller spaces between the lines) and some were *gasp* blank! Those were for geometry and physics. Just a bit of trivia for you.
My challenge is for you to incorporate notebook paper into your card. It can be real notebook paper (steal some from your kid's notebook), or a stamped image of notebook paper, or heck - computer-generate it! I'd just like to see something I recognize as notebook paper.
Have fun with it!

Hi All
"The wheels on the bus go round and round" When I think of school starting, I think bus or even cars. It is the time of year that my car turns into a taxi for my kids.
My challenge is to create a card that has wheels on it. As an extra bonus create a round card to go with your wheel card.

River
Reinkers
Rolled Flower
Rock n Roll
Check out the tutorials section for directions for some of the techniques listed above and others that start with R.

Title: Phys Ed- Let's Get Physical! Hostess: scrappy_carla (Carla) Keyword: SEP12VSND Day/Date: Friday, Sept 21st Time: 8:00pm EST
How many of you remember having to take PE or Phys Ed in school? Some of you may even remember having to wear a uniform and lining up for exercises! Jumping Jacks, Toe Touches, Side Bends, etc! Others might remember playing kick ball, dodge ball, basketball, or even those horrible forced dance lessons where we had to partner up with a BOY! Those were the days! I was thrilled when I got older and could count marching band and dance team as my PE requirement!
My challenge is for you to make a project that has a reference to some ACTIVITY! You can use any sports-related theme, dancing, running, sports equipment (for example golf clubs), polo, scuba diving, cheerleading, marching band (musical instruments are fine), anything that is recognizable as a form of exercise!

I love books, so since I was a kid I never missed an opportunity to sign up to any library I could and borrowed as many books as I was allowed to {insert bookworm icon here} .
I remember one librarian from my elementary school who never failed to remind us: No doggy ears, please! Use a bookmark!! and it's kind of stuck in my head till know.
So since back to school means lots of books, my challenge for you is to make a bookmark . Any kind, any size - you can use any technique you want, just make a bookmark...and then use it too!

Are you having fun tonight?!!
For the final challenge this evening I have a supply challenge for you! My challenge is to use some type of supply on your card or project that you would find in the classroom such as paperclips, chalk, cork, staples, etc!! Let your imagination run wild!!!
In every school and on every playground you are sure to see quite a few kids wearing blue jeans, I think that is all my boys wore all of their school years!!! I ran across these fun blue jean covered brads in my stash and knew that is what I had to go with!! As an added bonus, I used Faded Jeans Distress inks!!!

Every kid at some time in their life wants to graffiti the school.
My challenge to you is to use anything that sprays to graffiti up your project! There are lots of spray inks on the market today, but don't think that's the only thing you can use - if it sprays, it's game!
Not all graffiti is bad, of course... check out this AMAZING "graffiti" creation:

Title: Don't Get Caught Daydreaming
Hostess: stamp_momma
Keyword: SEP12VSNH
Day/Date: Saturday, Sept 22nd
Time: 2:00pm EST
I'm easily distracted because I've got two sketches I want to try, an image to color, a package of pretty new paper on the counter...I mean, because I'm a daydreamer.
Eight hours in the classroom can be a little taxing on the creative brains, can't it? :p
My challenge is to make a card using the Glitter Window technique. You can find a super helpful tutorial here. I love this technique because it can work for both elaborate creations *and* clean-and-simple designs. With an abundance of dies and punches available these days, it should be super easy.

Title: Apples
Hostess: Brenda aka tessaduck
Keyword: SEP12VSNI
Day/Date: Saturday, September 22
Time: 3:00pm EST
An apple for the teacher
Does the trick
If you havent done
Your arithmetic.
Well, as a retired teacher, I can tell you that no apple makes up for neglected homework! However, I used images of apples frequently in my classroom-- bulletin boards, calendar die cuts, newsletter clipart.
Now, outside the classroom, apples are everywhere. Its apple season. Fresh apples in the farmers markets! Its just not autumn without cider and applesauce, still warm and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Apple pie, warmed up, a la mode.
My challenge is for you to make a card or project using APPLES as your inspiration! They can be stamps of apple images, cards shaped like apples, apple dp, anything that is apple inspired!

Title: The color RED
Hostess: Angie, ohmypaper!
Keyword: SEP12VSNJ
Day/Date: Saturday, Sept 22
Time: 4:00pm EST
I love the color red! When I think of back-to-school, I think bright shiny red apples for the teacher, Bulletin boards decked out in bright primary colors that usually include red, little red school house, and even textbooks. We have a math textbook sitting on our kitchen table right now, any guesses on its color???
One of the "red" things I am reminded of when I thinking of "back to school" is graded papers marked in red but I had several comments that in a lot of schools, teachers aren't allowed to use red anymore when grading papers. After that I started looking and wouldn't you know it....my daughter doesn't bring home any graded papers in red. SO if you are old school like me...one of the back-to-school reds that might pop into your head is graded papers but you aren't going to see them much anymore!!!!
My challenge is to use red somewhere on your project!
Have fun and I can't wait to see your project in the gallery!

Title: Sandbox Follies
Hostess: JoAnn sarahzoe
Keyword: SEP12VSNK
Day/Date: Saturday, September 22nd
Time: 5:00pm EST
This is my 40th year teaching school. I have many great memories of every grade level I taught from 3rd graders to seniors. If I had to choose a least favorite memory, it would be during the years I taught elementary and had to take my turn on recess duty. The little ones playing in the sandboxes had more fights than anyone else. Sand castles versus hot wheel roads and lots of tears.
My challenge to you is to make a card that in some way incorporates sand. It could be sanded edges, sandpaper, actual sand, or a beach scene to name a few.
But please, behave in the sandbox...no kicking or throwing sand and above all don't eat the sand. Chocolate works much better for this challenge.

Title: A Classroom Layout
Hostess: Vannessa, saffivort
Keyword: SEP12VSNL
Day/Date: Saturday, Sept 22nd
Time: 6:00pm EST
Back in the day of Victorian classrooms (and actually in the Simpsons classroom's too) the children sat in rows all facing the blackboard and the teacher's desk, looking a bit like this:
Or like this:
But my classroom looks nothing like that. In fact I don't even have a teacher's desk, not a proper one. I have a small children's table for my computer that is connected to my interactive whiteboard, but not an adult sized desk. My 5 sets of children's tables are also in groups of 6 or 8.
Those older classroom layouts are perfect for a sketch though. My challenge is to use the sketch below, based on a linear style classroom to create a card. Feel free to flip it, rotate it as long as I can still see the sketch there. I've added a couple of samples as well.

It is always difficult to find food that our little scholars will eat instead of being distracted by play
My challenge is to make a card depicting food that children love to eat.
It doesn't have to be food we would want them to eat just food you know they would eat

Hi friends and welcome to Virtual Stamp Night September 2012 Back to School!
Title: School-Themed Designer Paper
Hostess: Cindy Coutts (KY Southern Belle)
Keyword: SEP12VSNN
Day/Date: Saturday, September 22, 2012
Time: 8:00pm EST
Supplies Needed: Designer Paper, one sentiment stamp, and whatever else you would like to embellish your card.
I have the pleasure to hostess a challenge for this special occasion and I have a very fun challenge for you:
CHALLENGE: You can use designer paper or whatever other embellishments you would like but NO STAMPING! The ONLY item that can be stamped on your card is the SENTIMENT.
It's very easy to do. Let your designer paper go to work for you. I cut several 1/2" strips of Stampin' Up! Storybook Designer Series Paper and adhered them diagonally to a Real Red card stock base covering the entire card. I then trimmed of the edges.
I used Papertry Ink Half & Half Die cut onto Daffodil Delight card stock to anchor my sentiment which was stamped on Vintage Cream card stock from Teach & Inspire using Midnight Muse ink for the frame that was die-cut from Fillable Frames #7, and then stamped my sentiment in Real Red.
I wrapped New Leaf Baker's Twine around the center of the card a few times and then adhered the entire sentiment panel onto the card with foam tape. I finished the card off with a silver Library Clip.
I hope that you like this and please join us for our fun challenges this evening.

With homework it's usually the teacher that hands out the assignments. My twist on this is that you will choose what you would like to do for homework. Pick a row from the homework grid -either horizontal, vertical or on a diagonal. Then create your card or project from there.
Sound like fun? I can't wait to see all your completed homework projects.
