Hostess: Sharon (smadson) Keyword: VSNMAR14J Date: Saturday March 8th 6:00 PM In March the wind blows. You have heard "March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb". I tell you the wind blows where I live! My challenge for you tonight is a technique challenge. We are going to blow through a straw to make our background for a card. I love this technique. You need a straw, and some refill inks, and glossy paper. How windy are you? :) 1. Pick out three re-inker colors, at least one lighter one. 2. Cut the size of glossy that you want. Or, you can cut it down after you do it. Or you can cut a shape out after you have finished your glossy. 3. Put three drops of the first color in various place on the glossy, and then blow, blow, blow! Don't pass out! LOL 4. Put three more drops of another color. Blow, blow, blow!! Did you pass out? 5. Put three drops of another color on your glossy. Now it is up to you, you can blow or scrape and spread out with the straw. This is your art, do what you like! 6. You can go back with another of the colors and fill in the white, or however you want to do it. 7. Wipe it with a tissue. It is such a pretty effect! I have included the link to the technique for a better understanding of it, in case my description is not clear! Here is the tutorial: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/tj0WeITqnDk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> After you get your background made, you can cut out a shape, or just a square. You can stamp on it with sentiment or a silhouette image. So much you can do with this! Have fun! :) Here are two panels I didn't use: Attachment 290379 Attachment 290380 My Sample: Blowing With The Wind View the gallery for this challenge: Here View the Weather Or Not Master Challenge Thread: HERE 1. You can chat in the current individual thread or at any time in the general weather or not vsn thread! We're happy to see you here!
Actually our wind and snow was last night....14" of gorgeous snow! It's sunny and melting today! LOL |
Here's mine.
I always have trouble with this technique - today was no exception. But at least it looks something like my inspiration piece, LOL, so I'm happier than usual with the outcome. Thanks, Sharon. And it looks so easy and effortless in the video!! VSNMAR14IJ Blowing in the Wind and Rain |
I love this technique, but it takes time to dry... Even with the embossing/heat tool.
|
Sabrina, you did great! :) You see, that i included photos of my rejects above. But I might use them another time! :)
|
I used leftovers from the air smash technique challenge. Don't call the vsn cops...

Hello, hello .... got behind w/ dinner and a house full of boys here to watch the Cavaliers and the Knicks play B-Ball ... Now ... off to find some glossy paper & a straw, LOL. Thanks for mentioning it had to dry cuz ... I was wondering How is everyone's Saturday? |
Hi, Lela! Glad to see you playing! :) My Saturday is all mixed up right now. I do't know what time it is because, this challenge is at six but it went up at 5 my time, and then my husband has already started changing the clocks! So, I don't know what time it is! LOL
I put the dinner in the oven and told him we weren't eating until after 7, then came downstairs, where we are watching college basketball, and find it is not even 6 yet! Anyway, I guess we will eat before 7! I look forward to seeing what you all do with this technique. It is one of my favorites. But it does make you dizzy! LOL |

splitcoast is insisting this is not a jpeg so I'm fighting getting it into my gallery. But here's my card. I loved this technique though I'm not sure I like that the cut edges absorbed the ink that was blown off. Though it did create a 'frame' of sorts.
|
Janeenk, what a fantastic card! And Kelly yours is fab too. I love how you got a frame!
Thank you both for playing. Isn't it fun to see haow they all are different? |
I'm going around Wed or Thursday and check out cards. After 2 days off work last week I'm backlogged - again
|
Here is my card!! What a fun technique!!
|
Megan, wonderful card! I am glad you liked the technique.
