Faux Tole Flowers by Janeenk ~ JUN14VSNE ~ Sat. Jun 7th 1:00 pm
Challenge Title: Faux Tole Flowers (EXTRA time allowed)
Hostess: Janeenk (Janeen)
Keyword: JUN14VSNE
Date: Saturday, June 7, 1:00 p.m. EST
In the upper Highlands of Wisconsin Summer flowers don't come very early. We don't even plant our flowers until after Memorial Day. It is always a thrill for me and many others to see those flowers finally bursting into reality. We get to see the "resurrection" or raising up of all those bulbs we planted. My challenge to you is to use the Faux Tole method and "raise" those flowers up.
Tole~in it's simplest form means to make three dimensional by using like pieces and cutting them, giving the pieces dimension and layering them. There is a tutorial for youHERE.
If you don't have a stylus you can use a ball point pen that has dried up (you know, the one you always have by the phone that doesn't write ) or even a chop stick. Just something to curve those edges with. One thing i forgot to mention in the tutorial; if you are stamping your main image on white card stock you will want to color your main image in as well as the extra stamped piece.
Because this is a bit putzy and it may be a new technique for some of you we are extending the time frame for this challenge to two hours. So looking forward to seeing what you create.

If it's off-centered-- Well, my eyes were crossed. All right, not really. The panel was in my usable goofs/experiments/extras basket. The flower just sort of fit, and I couldn't think of another image that had lots of blooms. So you got one, dear. Just one cut, groomed and stacked flower. I don't think I could manage any more!!!

Angie, the pitch-hitter extraordinaire! You're a peach for filling in.
Favorite flower? That's like asking who's your favorite child! Love 'em all, especially wildflowers. I've lots of day lillies and iris in my yard, mostly because the deer leave them alone.

Brenda your card is perfect and I think you're funny, I really do use this technique quite often.

Oh Angie thanks so much for covering for me. I thought I would be able to hot spot but that didn't work out! A happy good afternoon to you this Saturday. Thanks to all who have given this a try and all those who are happily playing VSN challenges with us.
Wondering if any of you have lots of potted plants like I do and what's your favorite mix of flowers for them
I can't get a picture of my fave right now as it is pouring rain. But it is red and yellow begonias with a spike in the middle and then a cascade of trailing ivy in a light and dark color. Wish I could show you a picture. Well the I us aren't trailing much yet but they will be by the end of summer.

Wasn't it fun to walk around Cherie's yard and see all the exciting things she had pushing through the earth? I miss you!!

Personally I love Lily of the Valley. It grew all over the yard of the house we lived in when I was small. My poor mother always had vases of it on the table because I kept picking it for her. When I was older I found out that it's a pain because it spreads fast and is hard to get rid of. Oops.

I like more of the "weed" flowers than the real flowers. I even like dandelions. Well at least they are easier for people like me with black thumbs to grow. LOL!

I'm coming in late today, but I have a good excuse...I was shopping (and buying!) at an art show. So I'm late, but totally inspired. I need to work hard to catch up.

Me too, they are yellow, they can't be all bad and I even take pictures of them and there is not a child on this earth, i don't think, that doesn't like the happy nature of the dandelion.
