Summer 12 VSBN.....Fair Food
Title: Fair Food
Hostess: Patti (princessp1971) Keyword: 12SUMMERVSBN03 Day/Date: Saturday June 23 2012 Time to complete: June 23 to July 15 Please note you have 3 weeks to complete the challenge So much to enjoy at the fair. The sites, the sounds, the animals and of course the food! I love to see all the animals and the 4H exhibits and then of course the food. All kinds of different foods (most of them not very healthy). Three of my favorite fair foods are candied apples, elephant ears and deep fried dill pickles. Yummy good thing I don't eat these foods often...:D So with that in mind the challenge is to pick one of my favorite fair foods and build your page around whatever colors that food reminds you of. Also use brads or flowers or ribbon or use all three embellishments. Just make the page all your own. Your page does not have to be about food. Be sure to tell use what food you chose and be sure to leave a link to your page in this chat thread. Have fun and enjoy the Fair Food challenge! Candied Apple Elephant Ears Deep Fried Dill Pickles |
Whohoo! I love the deep fried pickles. In fact I think I invented them over 45 years ago! When I was a waitress in college, (yes I am telling my age here) we were all bored and asked the cook to deep fry us some pickles. We called them "frickels".
Okay that is my story, and I am sticking to it! :) What are Elephant Ears. and what color? I have to know that before I decide what colors. :) It is a great challenge! Sharon |
Oh, I just clicked on your pages and found out what colors. But still don't know what Elephant ears are!

I've never heard of Elephant Ears either. First thing I thought of was funnel cakes...but that is probably native to this area and they really aren't cakes at all. More like pancake batter drizzled into hot oil in a skillet in the form of a circle and then sprinkled with powder sugar...yummy!

Thank you. I think I will pass. I love eating enough food as it is! I am thinking green. But will have to go down and look at my photos.

I might use the fried pickles too and go green! Off to see what I can do digi. DGS is watching Snow Dogs so he should be set for at least an hour or so.
|
Sharon the food in my pickle page is fair food. She loved the fair food and the animals. She wanted a puppy!
|
Waiting to see you page Terry!
|
Okay, I have my page layed out. But came up to check on what besides green. LOL
I was thinking brads and ribbon. I found this great green textured paper with like green bumps like pickles! Hehe. Anyway not sure it works great, but i have ta use it! be back SHaron |
Sharon sounds like cool paper

I'm doing a page on the growth of the tomato plant we planted and I just went out to get an up to date photo of the plant. Had to detour at the broccoli however to scoop some more of the cabbage worms off them.

Attachment 251699Again, thank you for the challenge Patti, especially the part to use brads! Why do I have to be told to use brads when I have so many of them?
Look at just some of my brads. Then I even have some in drawers! Thanks for fun evening. I have a page to upload for your Thursday challenge, now. :) Sharon |

OK...in between taking an ice cream break and watching 2 movies with DGS, I've finally got this page done.
Tomato Plant I chose the deep fried pickles since I've wanted to do this page on the tomato plant DGS and I planted at the beginning of spring. We are just hoping these tomatos get ripe before we go on vacation or wait until we come home to eat them :) |
I'm calling it a night have to get my clothes ready tonight for church tomorrow. Thanks for playing tonight Terry and Sharon!

Goodnight Patti! Terry, I love your page. How many pages have you done today? You are taking advantage of DH being gone, aren't you! I got two done. One for this one and one for Patti's Thursday challenge. I think I could keep going. Once I am started... Only don't have photos I would like. I have plenty of older photos to scrap, but not as much fun! I mean 70s, and 80s, and then all those antique ones!
:) Sharon |
Funny, I didn't read this thread first and asked what elephant ears were in my comment on your elephant ears page.
Terry, funnel cakes are big out here in Arizona too. And Indian fry bread--which is along the same lines...all fried dough with powdered sugar and/or honey! Patty, Sharon and Terry--all your pages are great! Love the challenge, Patty! Hope I can get to it this week. It's gonna be a busy week for me, but I'll try my best! ----------- |

Inspiring challenge Patti! I feel hurt that I have never seen fried pickles at any fair here in Florida. Sonic drive in restaurant did have fried pickles on their menu for I while and we loved them.

WooHoo!
I think the food is the best part of the Fair! I'm not much for rides, LOL! Believe it or not, Fried Pickles are served at restaurants here in OH. I had not heard of them before I got here. Elephant Ears are a BIG fave ... yum!
As soon as I return from traveling this week, I know just the picts I want to use ;) |
