In order to help travel and tourism during the Labor Day weekend, a law was passed a couple of years ago in Michigan stating that schools cannot begin their school year until after Labor Day.
Yeah I just found that out - my DD (and I'm not so sure I mean darling right now) informed me after school today that "I'm so dumb, cuz they don't have to go back until after Labor day"
Today was their last day and I'm already looking forward to them going back:rolleyes:
So I'm a little behind the times! I could just about whoop some 14 year old butt tonight!!!
Hey ladies!! Checking in while the site works for me, before I have to give the computer to DH!
We've had some fantastic ideas for hostess challenges - please keep them coming!! I love to see the creative things that ya'll come up with!!
If anyone sends anything this weekend, i may not get back to you until Monday. We are going out of town, and my internet access will be limited :(. But don't let that keep you from submitting an idea!
Any idea what when you will post some pre-challenges? My husband and I are planning a trip to Seattle the weekend of the VSN to watch a Boise State football game... I hate to miss out, but I love watching our college team play and we don't have a lot of chances out here in Minnesota now. Maybe I'll luck out and get some stamping done on the Sunday we get back!
It would be so fun to be a hostess... I am trying it for the first time for the next VSBN. Can't wait to see all the great ideas that everyone comes up with for FALL. (It's one of my favorite times of year, too. I used to be a Kindergarten Teacher and my birthday is in October... Plus, there is Halloween and then Thanksgiving... and the leaves changing colors...)

I would love to tell you it will be soon, but so far we've only gotten six volunteers for hostesses:( Taylor and I are beginning to feel like no one likes us.

You know, I've been thinking about hostessing for VSN, but I'm just afraid I'm not computer savvy enough!!
Plus, I don't know if I can come up with as good an idea as all the past VSN hostesses---they've all been so fun!!
But I do love Fall!!

I've got my thinking cap on, girls! Trying to come up with something great. I'll get back to you soon!

That may be because it's so far into the future - not everyone has a handle on activities that far in advance.
Come on girls...hostess for Taylor and Patty!! I can vouch for hostessing. It is a BLAST, you do NOT need to be tech savy, and our wonderful hostesses are always an email away if you need help. I made a ton of wonderful cyber friends and had one of the best times hostessing the last VSN. Really, you have nothing to worry about.
I think Melody is probably right... It's too early to know what's going on then. I have no idea what Saturdays will look like in the fall for DS's schedule. Fridays are usually safe, but with it being the first week of school, I know I'll be snoozing EARLY! ;) If you need me, I'll come up with a few ideas... but I need to be first on Friday so I'm coherent!

We worried about that but with VSBN the last part of July (the 22nd is the "preview" party) and the actual dates are August 5 & 6. It was to either do it in June or the first part of July, which we couldn't do because of our schedules or the end of August/the first part of September. There isn't any holidays or fun stuff in August so we went with September. But remember we do want to plan some "fun" stuff to tie us over!
Also remember we need some challenges for the kiddo's to do!!! So if you want an early slot perhaps you could think of something for the kids to do.
Taylor and I will probably be announcing a submission deadline soon, so get those ideas coming in!!!
We'd like to get started with the "top secret" special challenges and we can't do that until we have all the hostesses involved in the special "hostess only" chat thread:p
Are the dates a Friday and Saturday? I don't think we will be leaving town until later Friday night, so I may be able to host on Friday... I'll get back to you.

Are you for real? I agree that kids shouldn't go back 'til after labour day but to make it LAW ... cool! They tried it here for a few years and now that DD is in school I am happy to say that she doesn't start until the Tuesday after Labour Day .... There is something just "Sick and Wrong" about going back before then! Besides's we'll be at the lake all summer so we won't be coming back until then anyway!
I'm so glad VSN is in September - I've marked it on my calendar and I am DETERMINED to play the whole weekend! I think I'll just play one whole round this time before I try my hand at hostessing!

Wow! September! :o
That's the first week back to school. I'll be waaaaaay too tired to think about trying to be a hostess, but I'll try and play in a challenge or 2..... That may be a long shot. Did I say that week is the first week back to school? :p Any other teachers out there feeling my pain?
There are so many that start the end of August, but my kids start back to school Aug 16th!! We only have approx 6 weeks before school starts again for my kids! We're having a great summer though! REALLY looking forward to VSN! I'm trying to recruit some of my friends to play along!!! I know they'll be hooked it they try it!!:p

I have never participated in a VSN before. How do I join in on the fun?
Renee'
Hey Renee'! Thanks for your interest - first thing is to keep stalking the VSN forum, if you like stamping, you'll LOVE VSN
Do you just want to play or do you want to jump in with both feet and actually host a challenge? Either way is great fun!
If you just want to play - show up on September 7/8, check the VSN thread every hour on the hour and a new challenge will be posted. Each challenge is brought to you curtisy of a hostess who thought the idea up. You basically read the challenge and have 45 minutes to complete it and upload it. Then the next hour you move onto the next challenge.
If you want to host a challenge - you PM your idea to Taylor and myself, we put you on the list, you'll gain access to a special hostess only thread, and you get the support and guidance you need from the coordinators and other hostesses. Hostessing gives you the opportunity to make friends with new members and to learn a little more about them and this awesome site!
That's it in a nutshell, either way I hope you'll give it a whirl!
Oh....I really wanted to participate for once but that is the weekend of the Jefferson Sheep and Wool Festival here in Wisconsin and I've already committed to help out. It is a really big deal for us fiber fanatics. But I'll check up on what you are doing when I get home.....bummer.
I haven't been on SCS site for a long time, but I recently took up my hobby again. I was so excited to see this thread and I am already preparing to get the kids out of the house for this. I'm even inviting a few friends over to join in the fun.
Stamps n smiles,
Heather
