Title: Background Showers
Hostess: Maggie's Mummy (Cav)
Keyword:MAY10VSNN (Be careful, this Keyword is tricky!)
Day/Date: Saturday, May 29th
Time: 8:00pm EDT
Well, I hope you've all been enjoying the challenges for this VSN.
When I first thought of the theme for this VSN, I couldn't help but think of water - beautiful cool water on a warm day. Of course, May showers for us in Australia means torrential rain and a cold winter!!!!! But May showers in the Northern Hemisphere are something totally different!!!!!
So I wanted to give you all a challenge that was fun, that was colourful - and of course, WET!!!!
Except, my challenge is a little different. Use a background stamp (or a smaller stamp to create a background piece) using the above technique, and stamp on Vellum!!!! Your background piece should be the hero of your card, so add some simple embellishments/sentiments. Just use lots of bright colours!!!!!
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON Monday May 31st.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, MAY10VSNN , when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
I'm really looking forward to seeing all of your wonderful creations!!!
Hi Cav! Long time no "see". Fun challenge! I've been playing along all day but I left my camera at work so I can't post anything yet. I'm going to run by my office after church tomorrow to pick it up. I have 2 other cameras but I couldn't get either of them to download the pics onto my computer. I even reinstalled the software. Hope you're doing well "down under". Off to complete a few more challenges.

Hey stranger!!!!! LOL!!!! Bummer about your camera(s) - why is it, nothing works when you need it to?
Things are going very well "down under" - I'm very busy with work, which of course is always good in the current economic climate (I need cash to buy stuff for my habit, that is, my stamping needs!!!). And I just note your siggie mentions that you're getting married!!!!!!! Congrats GF - I want details - LOL!!!!
Cav, I think we're all slowing down after so many fun challenges. Yours looks interesting, but I'd need a tutorial, because I really don't understand the process. :-( The cards posted so far are beautiful!

Hi Val - great to hear you've been enjoying the challenges and I know at this point of the proceedings, we all start slowing down!!!!!
As far as the tutorial goes, if you go to my original post and click on Misting with Markers, it should take you straight to Beate's tutorial on the Resources page!!!!
(Ok, now I just got the ultimate approval. My husband just said "WOW, That's fantastic actually!" Usually when I show him my cards he says "that's nice")

YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!! We've swayed him to the darkside - LOL!!!! You know, now he's here, there's no turning back!!!!!!
Wow, this was so much fun; I made two! I had to dig way deep to find some vellum, and the one kind I had was sparkly. And could someone please tell me how to adhere vellum?
I love this technique! Thank you for the challenge! Am I done yet? I am bound to finnish everyone of them. But today was a full day! Is it just two more?
Thank you for this challenge. It is fun to be reminded of things, and challenged to use them again!
When I get all done, maybe I can go look at everyones!
This was fun. . .never tried this technique before. Will have to practice a bit more! Here's my first attempt. Yeah. . .it's upside down on the cardstock, but even though that fix is quick, it wasn't quick enough to still beat the clock: I'll fix it later!
Here is my "misting with water" card. I'd like to try this technique again in the future, as this one is not as "good" as I would like for it to be. There are some accidental splatters and smudges. (I think I need to buy newer, juicier markers!)
This was a challenge for me, I've never tried this technique before! I was able to finally ink up an old background stamp that I have NEVER used! Thanks for the fun challenge and getting me to try something new!
This was fun but messy. My stamp is nearly unrecognizeable - which is OK. The colors are pretty. The vellum really wrinkled and weighing it down under some books for several hours didn't flatten it. (the 45 minutes on that card was split into two sections - hope that was OK - drying took a while, to say nothing of flattening!).
All in all, kind of a neat effect. I think I'd experiment with it somemore.
