Title: The Hustle and Bustle
Hostess: Stacey (Little Lou's)
Keyword: MAY09MINIVSN7
Date: April 25, 2009
Time: 8:00pm EST

When I think of Las Vegas I think of all the hustle and bustle that must go on the strip. The flashing lights, the cars and taxis, airplanes flying overhead and people wondering all over seeing the sights and ducking in and out of the casinos. What do all those people use to get in and out of those buildings? Doors, more precisely, revolving doors!

For some reason, the design of a flip flop card reminds me of these revolving doors. So, MY CHALLENGE TO YOU is to make a flip flop or swing card.

A tutorial on how to make one of these cards can be found HERE.

It's actually quite easier than it looks at first glance. Have fun and I can't wait to see you creations!

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON Monday, April 27, 2009
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword MAY09MINIVSN7 when uploading your image.
4. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
5. It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in the chat thread just in case the gallery is being testy.

Wow! Your sample looks gorgeous! I'll try to find some courage to do this one. I'm scared of technique challenges.

Don't be scared, jump right in! It's always worse than you think on this side of the challenge.

strongcanadianbeauty 04-25-2009 04:08 PM

Great sample Stacey!!!!

I've only ever made one flip card!!!!

Can't wait to take this challenge.....unfortunately I have a few obligations to attend too.....DH wants to cook steaks which means I need to get other supper things going.......

I am sooooo looking forward to what everyone comes up with.....my one and only flip card was ummmmmm....kinda lame.....so I can't wait to see more rockin' flip cards to get me excited about them again!!!

Mrs. Mac 04-25-2009 04:08 PM

Crud.....tried....failed....going to have to try again....maybe tomorrow when my brain isn't so tired.

tracymum 04-25-2009 04:10 PM

Go for it Ashley. You can do it. I always love trying new techniques....even if they sometimes do end up in disaster;) Nothing ventured nothing gained. Try something new and risky. We are in Vegas after all!!!

Little Lou's 04-25-2009 04:10 PM

I found the worse part with these cards is the scoring and cutting, if you can get through that you can do it! If you don't know where to start I would suggest picking your favorite color as your base and go from there!

Hi Michelle! No problem, you actually have until Monday night to post your card!

loxykelly 04-25-2009 06:08 PM

That's great news! I was getting overloaded with all the challenges posted!

m&m'sgrandma 04-25-2009 06:32 PM

I found this difficult to do in the time constraints. But I did and I named it Blooming Flower card for 2 reasons. The Flowers and the BLOOMING CARD but here it is http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...=MAY09MINIVSN7

Clownmom 04-25-2009 07:19 PM

When I was at StampFest by the Bay in Clearwater a couple of months ago, I bought some Repeat Impressions stamps that are specifically for Swing Cards. Unfortunately, they all are Christmas stamps. So, even though it was 90 degrees out today (not that I was outside at all today), I got to use them. Here's my card --

Flip Flop Christmas - front

Flip Flop Christmas - back

I did this earlier but the camera went to the zoo with my DD and didn't come home until 9, so now I am trying to catch up on all the cards I didn't upload. I did something wrong with my scoring or cutting so that I made the inside piece too big and it stuck out over the sides of the card. So I added an extra strip of paper to make the card wide enough to accomodate its center. Now I need to make a special size envelope! Here's my card. TFL!

This is my first flip-flop cards - well second one as I messed up the first (not too good at precision cutting).
I messed up the hedgies face a bit when I was almost done, but I didn't feel like making it all over again.
here is the one view: Hedgie flip flop card

Wow, this looks really cool! Beate's tutorials are so great, I just love trying the projects, because I know if I follow directions, they will turn out right!
