We've got your famous Las Vegas Buffet-line right here! Who doesn't like to have a few choices on the entree and the side items, and I really love a good salad bar. But, let's be brutally honest here.... it's all about the dessert, isn't it? Cheesecake, creme brulee, cobblers, CARROT CAKE! MMMMM, MMMMM!
Well, we'd be remiss if we didn't kick off Vegas night with a trip through the buffet line. Best thing about this one is that it's calorie free.

One of the most popular games in Las Vegas is Blackjack (probably because even non-gamblers like me can play it and occasionally win a hand.) So, will you join me at the VSN Blackjack table?
Blackjack is a very old card old game, dating back more than 400 years, when a form of it was played in Spain. Blackjack is also known as �21�, because each player tries to amass a hand of cards that add up to 21. The winner is the person who comes closest to 21 without going over that amount (22 or above means you've lost � or you�re busted, in Vegas lingo).
The name Blackjack comes from a form of the game where a bonus was awarded if the player reached 21 with the Ace of Spades (worth 11 points) and a black (spades or clubs) Jack card (worth 10 points). However, you can also win the game by collecting a hand full of twos, threes and fours, as long as they add up to 21.
For this VSN challenge, we're going to play Blackjack by giving a point value to elements used in a card (consult the following list). Deal your own �hand� by picking which elements you want to use, getting as close to 21 as you can without going over. In the game of Blackjack, there is no limit to how many playing cards you can take, so there�s no limit to how many of each element you can use in this challenge, as long as you keep the total score at 21 or below.
Points:
1 point for each layer in the card. 3 points for each different patterned paper (yes, you get 1 point if it's a layer plus 3 points if it's patterned.) 5 points for each different stamp you use. (If you use the same stamp more than once, it only counts as 5 points) 2 points for each ribbon 1 point for each hard embellishment (brads, eyelets, charms, rhinestones, beads, clips, etc. SO, a hairpin with four beads on it counts as 5 points).
You can use any of the following elements, but they don't affect points
Coloring mediums, different colors of inks.
You MUST include a listing of your points and total them up in your description when you upload your card.

My sample, and how it adds up to 21:
2 stamps (x 5 points each) = 10 points
3 layers (yellow base, flowered layer, and image layer. Scalloped piece runs alongside image and is the same layer) 3 layers x 1 pt = 3 points
2 patterned papers (flowered and dotted) x 3 points each = 6 points
2 hard embellies (brads) x 1 pt each = 2 points. 10+3+6+2 = 21

I never been to Vegas, but when you say Vegas I see casinos. You need money to play or in olden days you had to have gold and lots of it. So casinos equal money and money equals GOLD.
My challenge for you is to use Gold on your creation. Emboss with gold, use gold paper, pens, ribbons, charms, your old gold jewellery - be creative. The more gold the better - we are in Vegas!! :cool:

So what's a kid to do while their mom is stamping the day away? Color!

I love Cirque Du Soleil and I�ve been a Beatles fan since I was a kid. How lucky are we now that the two have joined forces? Only in Vegas, right?
The Mirage is home to one of the most incredible shows to come to Las Vegas. Cirque Du Soleil is an international sensation and their LOVE celebrates the timeless music of The Beatles, reworking original master tapes into a fabulous soundscape and pairing them with Cirque Du Soleil's trademark stunning visuals.
So, what is your challenge? Create a card, layout, altered item � anything you can make within 45 minutes � inspired by one of the songs from the LOVE soundtrack.

Noooo not that kind of strip�.The Vegas Strip!! Las Vegas Tourism describes The Strip like this:
Magnificent hotels glow green and gold. Pink, red, yellow, blue and white neon pulsates all around. Electric lights flash. Music plays. Volcanoes erupt. Fountains soar. Cars create two moving streams of light, red and white. People in the thousands walk up, down and over the Strip. Roller coasters corkscrew high above the ground. A laser beam, visible from space, penetrates the night sky, inviting the whole universe to come and play.

Well, for my challenge I want you to imagine you have time for one cocktail, right there where you sit. I want you to think of your favorite drink...is it a Cosmo, a Margarita, a Martini, or perhaps a glass of Wine. Well, whatever it is, I want you to think about it as you sit down to do my challenge.
My challenge to you today is to make a card or a project inspired by your favorite drink.
You can draw inspiration from the color of your drink, the glass it's typically served in, or even from what it's made out of. Can't wait to see what you all come up with.

Are you having fun yet? Las Vegas’ top betting is actually on sports rather than the slots in the casinos. Can you believe that? I was surprised when reading this piece of trivia.
My challenge to you is to make something sports oriented that you can place bets on in Las Vegas.Some ideas are horse racing, golf, basketball, hockey, football and poker is even considered a sport. Have a great time and place your bets!

When I think of Las Vegas I think of all the hustle and bustle that must go on the strip. The flashing lights, the cars and taxis, airplanes flying overhead and people wondering all over seeing the sights and ducking in and out of the casinos. What do all those people use to get in and out of those buildings? Doors, more precisely, revolving doors!
For some reason, the design of a flip flop card reminds me of these revolving doors. So, MY CHALLENGE TO YOU is to make a flip flop or swing card.

It's actually quite easier than it looks at first glance. Have fun and I can't wait to see you creations!

When I think of Las Vegas, I immediately think of gambling. And when I think of gambling, Kenny Rogers� song "The Gambler" always runs through my mind.
With this in mind, my challenge is simple - create a card and/or project with an interesting fold. There are TONS of ideas, and below I have listed and linked just a few of them. You may choose to use one of the tutorials below, or you may use another fold. Let�s all take a GAMBLE and try something new since that�s what VSN is all about!
