JUN16VSNB ~ Friday, June 17 - 6 pm EST ~ Hoist the Sails ~ lacyquilter
Challenge Title: Hoist the Sails
Hostess: Melody (lacyquilter)
Keyword: JUN16VSNB
Date: Friday, June 17, 2016
Sailing -- skimming across the water, with the sunshine sparkling on the waves, and the sails snapping in the breeze. An important part of sailing is how you adjust your sails to catch the right amount of wind.
Sails are made from fabric, and since my #1 passion is quilting, I thought this was the perfect challenge for me to present to you. I want you to use some type of fabric on your card. Some examples of fabric: cotton, felt, wool, canvas, your old worn out blue jeans or t-shirt, burlap, a piece of an old nylon stocking... you get the picture. Show me how creative you can be, but most of all, have fun.

I love to sew too. Well almost as much as collecting fabric anyway. My mom and sister do quilts. I don't have the patience for that, so I make mostly bags and quick sew projects when I have the time. I love this challenge. Need to go inside and grab a scrap of fabric to make my project.
Haha, Melissa! I know exactly what you mean by 'collecting' fabric. I have way more than I can use in a lifetime. I have to keep myself from buying when I go into the fabric store.
I wasn't sure if we needed to include a nautical theme (hoist the sails) or just include fabric so I did both! I used netting as a fabric background behind my sailboat.
How in the world do you all find time to chat, comment on uploads, AND craft! This one came down to the wire thanks to a complete start over at the 25 minute mark. Lol!

This is one challenge I didn't think I'd get to participate in. I do sew but don't do it much currently, so I do have fabric. However, it is in storage as we prepare to sell our house. But...my youngest daughter gave me this fabric as the clothing was too small for her now. She wants me to tell you what the fabric is from...but her older sister doesn't want me to! It made me think of water so here is my card for Hoist the Sails:
