Default JUL18VSNKIDS ~ Soap Bubble Art ~ Sat. July 14 ~ 12 Noon ET

Challenge Title: Soap Bubble Art
Hostess: berlycece (Kim)
Keyword: JUL18VSNKIDS

Date: Saturday July 14, 12 Noon ET

Summer isn't complete without kids blowing bubbles. But add some color, and Wow! For this project, I saw many different tutorials with different tips. They all include some basics:

1) Water - unless you use the actual bubble stuff
2) Liquid dish or hand soap, or liquid bubbles that kids use outdoors. I used hand soap.
3) Paint, either colored or white with some color added.

This is a FUN and MESSY technique, but kids will love it! Even those who are almost 53 years old like me! If weather cooperates, try this outside. Old t-shirts recommended for the little ones to wear. **Drying time is NOT included in your 1 hour VSN time limit.**

IF you do this with kids, please use NON-toxic tempera paints and or food coloring. Make sure kids can blow into the straw, not suck the liquid up. If your kid is too young to do that, I recommend the adult blow the bubbles and the child hold the paper over the bubbles to make the design.

I started with a white acrylic paint and added drops of SU ink. But I wanted a more intense color, so I added some colored distress paint. How much? I definitely had too much water in my first attempts. I just added color to get a decent shade. I didn't measure. I forgot what the video below shows!

I used 10 oz plastic cups, but smaller cups would work so you wouldn't have to wait so long for the bubbles to reach the top. I used thick card stock, because it needs to handle the moisture. Water color paper would probably be a better option. Thanks to my fellow hostesses for making samples!

Here is a video tutorial with annoying music but great results! LOL

This is fun! I used a couple squirts of dawn, about 3 T of water, and 6 drops of reinker. I am waiting for my art to dry and then I will make it into something. Fun, fun, fun. Great look.

Oh my gosh this was fun, good thing its hot out. I had three pieces of mixed media paper going at the same time so that I could you know rotate them around between blowing and so, I have so far three background panels done and dry. I used acrylic paint in mine and it dried nearly instantly but, having three sheets to move from helped and they are only a little warped. ( that mm paper is 140# )

I really loved this Kim

My dish soap has a green (apple) tint to it so, I ended up going with shades of blue just in case the soap had some pigments but, I don't see the green anywhere in mine.

This image was colored some time last February as far as I can tell so, it also allowed me to let the background be more visible and so, I really like how this turned out, I have two more with similar color patterns and I think they would make fantastic backgrounds for Ocean life scenes too

thanks for this challenge Kim

Fun technique! Mine turned out surprisingly pale considering how dark the 'paint' looked. Here it is. JUL18VSNKIDS Frog Pond by Dockside at Splitcoaststampers

I didn't think I would like this as much as I did. The bubble background turned out pretty well. I was happy I had just recently gotten the mermaid image that I used with it.

This is the one VSN challenge I've done so far. Hoping to get a few more done, but no guarantees since I had my schedule all cleared for VSN so I could play along and that did not happen.

This was such a fun technique to learn (and not as messy as I thought it might be). I only had one color of acrylic paint on hand, so that started my inspiration for this card.
Thanks for the challenge!

Oh my goodness... this technique was so much fun! I loved it, Kim! Not counting drying time, it took me 48 minutes to make this card, including the inside.
