APR08VSNN~Sat April 5~6pm EST~Leather and Metal...Remember Family Show~Chat Thread
Title: Leather and Metal.Remember this is a Family Fashion Show
Hostess: Robyn O (Robyn)
Keyword: APR08VSNN
Day/Date: Sat 4/5
Time: 6pm
Harley Davidson is celebrating their 105th year making motorcycles. What goes great with this type of metal ----- leather.
Your challenge is to make a card honoring this anniversary and using the Faux Leather technique as an embellishment, background, layer, or whatever you choose along with some sort of metal embellishment. (This could be Faux also.)
Beate has a wonderful tutorial for these technique:
Strut your stuff down the runway and lets see what youve got. If you enjoy these techniques when you have more time you can do another Faux Leather technique. Steps for this is:
Soak a piece of card stock in warm water for 10 minutes.
Remove and crumble into a ball squeezing out the water.
Gently straighten out and lay on counter, pressing out the creases.
Using a rolling pin (yes, a rolling pin) roll over the card stock as if you were making pie dough.
Turn your mouse pad bottom side up on floor
Gently place card stock on mouse pad
Place stamp on top of card stock (stamp should be one with deep grooves for a design.
Stand on stamp for 15-30 seconds
Carefully lift up stamp
Repeat steps 7 & 8 & 9 as until you have several images.
Gently lift up card stock and place back on counter to dry
When cardstock is dry, take a sponge, a dauber or a piece of paper toweling and a brown ink pad or any color ink pad and pat your images. (You are trying to color the ridges of the image with the ink just enough to accent them.)
Cut out your images
Apply Mod Podge or other similar covering or use Clear Embossing Powder to your images.
Attach image to card. Attached is my sample in which I used both Faux Leather techniques.
*** ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 11:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, APRIL 6th ***

The Faux Leather using masking tape is really simple.
When things settle down, you may want to try the other way of doing Faux Leather. It really looks and feels like leather.

Everyone must be working hard on finishing up their cards from other challenges or ripping up that masking tape. Remember ladies, it goes on the card and not each other.

I completely goofed on this one....thinking I'd read faux Leather OR Faux Metal - so sorry Robyn :( I don't have any masking tape, but will come back and do it the right way using your alternative technique later on!
Sarah, What a lovely card.
Don't worry about doing the Faux Leather unless you really want to. You may want to try out the other tutorial. This just deals with card stock, water and a stamp. Couldn't do it for this challenge because it takes more than 45 minutes for the card stock to dry.
Thanks for playing my challenge.

Everyone has done a great job. Thanks for playing my challenge.

Wow what a fun challege. I had done the faux leather before, and just yesterday I was thinking about the faux metal technique. You gave me just the push I needed. Here is my card. I combined it with APR08VSNO because I was out of town yesterday and was limited on time. Here is my card.
