This sounds cool, Alyson. I like the idea of having the sin-slate wiped clean. I was raised Catholic and there is confession for that, but I never liked sitting in a dark room confessing my sins to priests who I knew were my mom's friends/coworkers. Go figure.

Oh, man. Grocery stores are a haven for pet peeves. You can find so many in there. I also find a lot at concerts, sporting events, and in line at the bank!

Ewwww..this is so sick. I feel like barfing just thinking of it again.

I went to the grocery store last night. Pet peeve #27. Lets give it a nice random #. I really hate this one. If it makes me gag--it should be in the top 50.

This guy was shopping w/o shoes on. I cannot stand that. Put some FREAKIN shoes on. But in my head I was not being nice and saying freak. Noooo.... Sick. My FOOD is in this store. Then I looked closer at his black and dirty ***** feet and saw that his #2 toe was missing on one foot. OMG! I know why! Cuz you don't wear shoes anywhere!!!!

Then I looked at his poor kids. They were dirty and shoeless too. Great. A second generation of shoeless wierdos. Pet Peeve #27-B. Taking your kids into business with black and dirty feet. SICK SICK SICK!!!

Get some shoes and a bath already!!!!

He has two really nice polo shirts I bought from my favorite catalog (Boden) and he had ruined them. I looked online and somewhere read you should prewash food grease stains with Dawn dishwashing liquid and then run it through your machine. Sure enough. I did that and the grease stains are gone, even after these shirts had already been washed and sent through the dryer. I am so glad. I thought these shirts were doomed.

Man. I sound like an infomercial.
thanks for that tip Jus. I have so many things from the boys that I thought they ruined. I will ahve to try that next time.

OMG....I would have freaked. Isn't that a major health code violation? I would have secretly turned him and his dirty feet children into the store manager. EWWWWWW!!!

It really does work, Aly. I saved two of Joe's favorite shirts. I am so glad Google exists.

One more good thing for this day and every day (just imagine it on my list even when I don't put it on there:

It has to be a violation. How could it not be?

It's bad enough in places like 7-11. Which I hate to go into. But the grocery store? C'mon! This is my FOOD! Get back or suffer the consequeces of me spraying you with lysol or trapping you in a large plastic garbage bag.

Good things for the day:

1--Birthday cards from Tammi, Jus, Stace, Colleen and Cindy. Thanks!!!!

2--Ability to turn my grocery cart around and escape down the other end of the aisle

3--Pasta salad with chicken

4--Leftover IKEA oatmeal cookies

5--Hubbies who want to go to bed early

no, my mom usually does and we go to her house. I do Thanksgiving and Passover and she does Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

some, but not all the customs. We are a little more conservative than a lot of Jews. We pretty uch only go to services on the Holy days while a lot of people go more often. We would like to go more often, but the synagogue is 45 minutes from where we live and by the time Glenn gets home on Friday nights, they are over. Next year, we will have to go more often because it is a requirement of kids 2nd grade and older for their Bar and Bat Mitzvah studies.

We eat Apples and Honey for a sweet new year and aren't supposed to work, wath tv, go on the puter, write, etc. (of course I am not THAT religious as you can see! ).

exactly. We only celebrate the big ones too...Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Passover, Hanukkah. There are a lot more, but we don't celebrate them. I do get those days off of work since they are Orthodox and more religious there.

I was reading a little about it online. Yeah, giving up the puter would be rough. Giving up working for the day...not so rough.

I saw some ideas about decorating the table and a I did read about eating apples and honey. The holiday extends through tomorrow right?

Hey, think about Lent. Could you give up sweets or chocolate or meat for that whole time? That would be pretty rough too.

And I thought growing up Mormon and fasting once a month on a Sunday was tough. (we still got an early dinner but the other meals were skipped.)

I can't do that either Michelle. I have to "feel" like eating what's planned. I could never really say that every Tuesday I will have X meal. But I do need to come up with a better shopping plan.

I've been trying to go shopping more often. Instead of waiting until the cupboards are empty...I'm going once a week and planning 3-4 meals with a few back up plans in the pantry or freezer.

Hi Tracy! How are you?

I went forever with empty pantries! Then a couple months ago I thought I'd give The Grocery Game a try that Emily does. It has really helped. I have so much food stocked up now, and for way cheap too.

I shop every week now, I used to only make it in maybe once a month!

Hi Michelle, I'm good.

I don't think I know the grocery game. Do you watch the ads or coupons or something like that? I dunno if I up for that.

I know what you mean!! I don't know what I feel like eating until it's time to fix it! I don't plan ahead too much either, I just try to have a variety of meats in the freezer to pull out when I decide what I want!

I don't think I know the grocery game. Do you watch the ads or coupons or something like that? I dunno if I up for that.
ALl you really have to do is cut coupons from the Sunday paper. You go to their website every week and they give you a list with all the good deals and sales, then you just pick what you want to buy and print the list.

I've gotten some really good deals...8 tubes of tubepaste for $3. Now I'm stocked up for the year and won't need to buy any.

I think it's pretty easy. I like someone telling me what to buy when, and that I can get it cheap! More money for stamping stuff!!!

Here's the site if you want to take a look: www.thegrocerygame.com

Sorry I disappeared there. It was nearly bedtime for the kids and we have been playing card games with the kids before bed, so my presence was needed for Go Fish. I love that game.

Now it's time for me to go watch Heroes with Steve. We're gonna finish Disc 3 tonight and maybe start on Disc 4. Hope you all have a lovely evening. I'll catch you for sure tomorrow!

I MUST have this! I checked out the conversion rate of canada money to american and it's still pretty cheap! It's similar to the Just Johanna stuff...but a little cheaper!

GOSH...I so wish I had some $$$! And shipping is reasonable too! Like $3.

I WANT THAT CUPCAKE!!!
Very cute!

Good morning Granny - good job getting everyone up and going already this morning.

Good morning Debbie - Ahhh - the java!

I dragged myself out of bed a little late this morning. Saw this on one of my e-mails. Check this out:

CHEW ON THIS:
September 14th is National Cream-Filled Donut Day. To celebrate, check out the low-fat offerings from Holey Donuts. Mmmmmm!

Sounds good right! They are no more than 3.5 gr of fat. I went to the website and they do look really yummy and I thought even though they are kind of pricey I might order 2 boxes as treats. Well, when I was going through the checkout process and clicked on shipping, it was $47.00 Reminded me of that lady from Canada yesterday with the high shipping rates. Needlesstosay, I did NOT place the order. Can't see paying more for shipping than the items I was buying cost. Too bad.
