Maybe Gretchen has subliminal messages on her thighs that you can only see in the studio through her see through dress.

Do you think there was too much of a reminder of Seth Aaron - they glossed over it in the deliberation. I think that could have been an issue.

Did Michael and Nina seem to work too hard to be "with it" "on trend" because I don't see anyone in the celebrity world that is following Gretchen's trend unless they are talking more like a J Lo and she is out of the limelight ATM. Most of the famous women at the moment I think are Mondo women - I could see Helen Mirren rocking one of his creations!

Blah!! And

After I saw the 3 collections, I correctly predicted that Andy would come in 3rd and Gretchen would win. I certainly don't agree with the judges' decision, though. Gretchen may have listened to them and "glammed up" her models' hair and makeup, but the clothes were monotone and BO-RING. The shiny leather stuff said "Made in China." And what REAL woman is going to wear those bikini bottom "things"? (Only a teenager with a hot body whose mother isn't paying attention, that's who. LOL)

So this is where fashion is heading? Give me a break.

I thought Mondo looked fabulous in his suit. Michael Kors needs to take a lesson from him on how to dress for a big event.

why, oh WHY did they pick her???????? Really? didn't she get nasty about april's white diaper shorts, and here she is making several pair? GROSS!!!!!

I loved Andy's fringe dress!

They only looked at this runway collecrtion - did they forget all the other crappy stuff she made?

Jessica needed a necklace or something on, her chin looked like it joined her neck with her hair pulled back etc.

Something to "break" it up.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but there hasn't been a woman winner, has there?

I hope this is like Idol, where sometimes it's the second or third place winner that ends up having a great career - like Daughtry. Mondo will be back!

Also, they kept saying Gretchen's stuff was Ready to Wear but all season long they kept telling the contestants they didn't want to see RTW, they wanted to see a Runway show with lots of big creations.

Maybe we need to start a boycott of Loreal and Garnier!

AND that is why I was so impressed with Heidi and Jessica defending Mondo.

I think that Michael and Nina were just looking for an excuse. Gretchen upped her game but it wasn't runway.

Once again, I think the judges got it way wrong! I personally LOVED Andy's clothes. I thought they were elegant and beautiful, but I had a feeling he wouldn't win. I loved the one shoulder fringe dress!

But come on - Gretchen? All season they kept dogging her becasue they said she "just a ready-to-wear" designer. And tonight, that's why she won!

Fashion forward? On what planet? Mondos' was way more fashion forward than hers. He's a little too far out for my taste, but he's so good and putting colors and prints together. I loved that strapless baloon dress. I can see my daughter (24, not a teenager) in it.

I think she got that far and won becasue she's a woman - I think the producers had a lot to do with the judging this year. I liked the sow so much better when it was on Bravo. I think moving to Lifetime ruined it!

There was a woman winner. Her name was Chloe Dao. This was season 2.
She was on the same season as Santino and Daniel V. I know that she had done some stuff on QVC, not sure if she still has items with QVC . Also,
she did a cameo on The little couple. She was designing a dress for Jenn.

Irina was another female designer who won PR (two seasons ago? I'm terrible at keeping track of that stuff). She wasn't the nicest contestant, but I thought she did really beautiful work.

I have to agree that I loved Andy's work as well. I would not wear one thing that Gretchen designed. I would not even look at them. At least Andy's stuff caught your eye. I turned off the tv and felt that I didn't understand fashion at all, nor do I want to!

Yep...Leanne. I can think of 3 women who have won and maybe more. Just cant think off the top of my head.

Well...I am pretty much done watching PR.

I guess Chico's then Cold Water Creek then Gordman's will be very happy Gretchen won cuz that crap she made will be perfect in those stores!

Mondo stayed true to himself and his vision, didnt dumb it down or glam it up based on what Michael and Nina said like Gretchen did!, and provided a true fashion show! Shows like this are supposed to produce beautiful, crazy, slightly wacky and nearly unwearable clothes as they are presented. Only stars and musicians and celebrities and rich rich socialite folks would wear them AS IS. It is the job of designers at GAP, Guess, Banana Republic and whatnot to take those trends and make them wearable for the rest of us.

Mondo created exactly that! He put on a show, made wearable art and made me want many of his pieces, as they trickle down to Macy's and other places that we normal people shop at.

I am so POd that Gretchen won! I still cant believe it!! =( She is a butt-kisser who will turn on a dime to please everyone. And I agree...its not project jewelry! Ha! If Mondo wants to make a line of those silly little adorable headpieces, I'll buy! LOL

<----- really wants Mondo's skull shirt.

OK, so I live in NH - if that's not earthy, crunchy, where else is? We eat organic, all natural, etc and are outdoorsy. And NO ONE I know liked Gretchen's stuff!!!! I even own a pair of Birkenstocks!!!! If I wanted to see that on tv I'd watch a sitcom. I want to see stuff that dares to wow!!!
And I read the NY Times and review of Fashion Week. Gretchen's was so not a runway show!!!!
Going to be mad for awhile!!!

And I thought her jewelry was ugly!! I wonder how they decided to break the tie since it was Michael & Nina for Gretchen and Heidi and Jessica for Mondo.

It was fixed.

I really used to like Michael Kors snarky sense of humor...(though I'm sure it was written for him - he did deliver it well)....he came off like a big bully this time!!!

And did anyone catch the Michael Kors comment that what Mondo needed was a black dress and Tim Gunn told Mondo to scratch the black dress??? I'd have loved to have seen it - we only caught a glimpse.

I think they favored Gretchen from the beginning and were going to make sure she made it to the final no matter what.

Did anyone else notice in Mondo's model, with the blue top and plaid patterned skirt, that the model appeared to have a bulky necklace and then not, then a necklace, then not, as she was walking down the runway?

No, but it makes sense that they would take some shots/angles during a dress rehearsal and then things might change.

ya, so my DVR recorded 1:13 min of the finale. i missed Mondo's show but i sure got a lot of filler and nothing and Gretchen's and Andy's show but not Mondo's. The only one i cared about. Stoopid DVR. and I avoided this thread in order to find the last bit online (was it 90 min or 2 hrs?). But then decided I didn't want to even see Gretchen again as i fast forwarded thru the episode.

Lifetime ruined the show. Somehow Nina and Michael sold their souls, their professional integrity and taste when they moved over. I'm done. Gretchen's line looked better than the 1st part of the finale, but it was still RTW/Chicos crap with a sheen. Andy's was very beautiful to look at but I didn't see anything new.

Mondo's was... WAIT. I HAVE NO IDEA. Except I do know that long, circle evening gown is pure awesomeness and way more "Mondo" than that black evening gown we got a glimpse of. I will look for pics of his line. I am sure Lada Gaga and others like her will seek him out. He will survive.

I was thinking that the 90 min is too much. I liked the show with less personal stuff/drama and more clothes. Me thinks I'm done. I will boycott Loreal and Garnier. Project Runway? Yawn.
(ladies, if i don't talk to you next season about PR, it's been fun! and i'll see ya on another thread!!

The finale was TWO HOURS long. The judges argued a lot over Mondo vs. Gretchen (to no avail, unfortunately).

PR wasn't quite as bad as this year's HGTV's Next Design Star, which should have been titled "Survivor for Half-Rate Decorators." I think these shows are trying to get a younger demographic so they amp up the drama and the BS. The creativity and the designing take a backseat. I lost interest in HGTV's show and won't bother watching next year, if they have one.

I finally got to watch the finale last night (been on business travel the last 2 weeks...) - what a let-down! I didn't like anything in Gretchen's collection. It was all one color/same fabric. Loved Andy's, Loved Mondo's! We need new judges...
