Default Hell's Kitchen

Anyone watching this season?

I'm wondering how much of what we've seen so far has been staged or coached.

Definitely starting out big!

I usually watch. I missed the last season all together, just forgetting it was on.

What did you think about the guy at the end when Gordon asked for the two male names. What an idiot he is.

Default Hell's Kitchen

The first episode was so weird.... it's like none of them had ever seen the show to know that he gets in everyone's face. Not sure what to make of this crew.

Was wondering how long it would take for them to give Jean-Phillipe more of a role?

Can any of them cook? Raw Raw Raw was all Gordon said all night! LOL And what a mess the kitchen was afterward!

This episode was the biggest train wreak they have ever had on this show.

Language barrier???? Give me a break!

Asking GR if he wants to "take it outside"????

WHERE did they get this group?

I've watched this on and off over the past few seasons, and this was the first time I've watched the first episode. It did seem like a lot of it was staged or set up. I know lots of the conflict on "reality" shows is set up, but this seemed even worse than usual.

Blast I missed it!

Honestly, I wouldn't taunt Gordo I bet he could hold his own in a scrap and he is fit as a fiddle he normally runs the London Marathon every year.

I get frustrated by the number of "cooks" they have on the show rather than "chefs" I guess they want anyone to be able to have a chance but honestly some of the past participants have been downright woeful.

Those of you who missed the premiere (like I did), you can watch on Hulu.com -- episodes for Hell's Kitchen are posted the day after they air.

Dude, if you can't handle cooking boneless chicken breasts and PASTA you really have no business in a school cafeteria kitchen, let alone running a glitzy restaurant at the Winter Olympics!

What did you think about the need to sit to take a water break? Did she say four bottles of water? And, how many men can fit at one station?

Given that she's quite overweight, and fatigue and excessive thirst are two major symptoms, I'm thinking that she's diabetic (Type 2) and may not know it. If she's not booted off for sheer incompetence in the kitchen, then her health may get in the way like it did for Robert last season. Speaking of whom, was it just me or did he look like he's gained even more weight since leaving Hell's Kitchen the first time? I thought he'd be forced to sit out the Blue Team's reward for winning the challenge again!

Good points. I thought she was just unmotivated and trying to hide she's not that good in the kitchen.

You can also watch them on Fox.com. That's where I caught up as I completely forgot about it starting.

Interesting is all I have to say.

That could be true as well. From the premiere, it looks like quite a few of these folks could be in over their heads -- camp kitchen directors, Jersey diner owners... not a lot of "chefs" in this bunch!

I only recognized the possible symptoms of diabetes 'cuz it runs in the family.

I find that so frustrating - you might be a great diner cook but that isn't Fine Dining which is what Hell's Kitchen is about.

I waitressed my way through University - working at all manner of establishments from a truck stop to Fine Dining. There is a huge difference in front of house AND back of house and some of these new contestants just don't get it = that diner cooking isn't fine dining cooking.

Joseph was a nutbar through and through! They are lucky he went out like a screaming toddler, or Teneill (sp?) or Lovely should definitely have gotten the sack.

I think Chef is seriously on fire. Love him and his temper!

I didn't understand Joseph's attitude at all. If I owned a restaurant there would be no way I would ever hire someone that dared to speak to me that way.

Robert really needs to take his health more seriously. I wish Rambo would talk to him (off camera) and help him sort his weight out.

Default Disappointing season

None of this season's candidates are capable (IMHO) of running a restaurant. I'm glad that Robert is gone - he needs to take care of himself for his family.

I think the bald guy with the sprained ankles will win. He does stupid stuff occasionally but nothing like any of the others.

I agree. I can't believe he came back from the hospital after being told his heart could not support his body and immediately started cramming food in his mouth while the others were working.

Unless one of them really steps up and gets going strong I would love to see it be the first time he sent them all home and told them no one deserved to be the winner.

LOL! wouldn't put it past him.

And remember just because they get the one year contract doesn't mean that it continues.

I actually thought they all should have been sent home last season too... maybe Rambo isn't as harsh a critic as I am?
