Default America's Got Talent

I have to say, as a proud Canadian, I HEART HOWIE MANDEL! This new season is awesome. When he wouldn't hit the buzzer for the guy who did the "genital manipulations" I thought I was going to pee my pants....it was hilarious!!!

What was the highlight or low light for you? The young man who sang "Over the Rainbow" (I think that is what it was) was incredible!...

I am really enjoying how much fun Howie seems to be having and how excited he is to be on the show. He is great.

I've been very impressed with what Howie brings to the show. Such an improvement over David H.

Howie was great!! I always have a soft spot for the kid acts. The 72 year old man that danced was so much fun to watch.

Howie Mandel has been my *heart* since the days he did St. Elsewhere and Bobbie's World. I had to make my kids watch Bobbie's World so I wouldn't look silly watching it by myself!

For me, Michael Grimm (Mississippi) has already stole my heart. You can see him here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMvJw_TnyyU

That young man is going to go far.

Default Wow!

I missed most of the second show as I didn't realize it came on two nights. That guy is fantastic. I was sitting here bawling by the time he got through. I hope he goes far in this competition.

Holly, I missed Michael's performance, too. Thanks for the link. That was incredible. I love his heartwarming story...and his voice!

awwww that young man that performed last week made your heart melt, working with old people, you could see the judges melt. He was so nervous.

Some of the acts they are putting through are just plain stupid. The engaged couple from last week *shudder* hate to see what they do again! *shudder*

My kids and I are addicted to AGT. I've always wondered - they show those thousands of people sitting in a big room waiting for the audition. You know that the three celebrity judges can't see all of those people, so who does the initial screening? Do they just pass through the good ones and the really awful ones and the ones that are ok to good get sent home?

Also, I agree with you all that Howie is an excellent addition to the show.

I laughed out loud when Sharon asked that teenager who played the piano about his costume and Howie said that she shouldn't assume it is a costume. The kid said he wore that outfit to school. Howie said Really?! And the kid smiled and said no. I hope you all saw that, it was hilarious.

If it's anything like American Idol there are pre-screening auditions first to another team of lower level group of judges that determine who goes on. We had a family friend's child make it to Hollywood on AI a few seasons ago and she told us that they sang in a tent first and then were advanced on - whether for the talent factor or for entertainment factor.

Howie is the best thing to come to AGT, I love watching his reactions, he's so in the moment.

Anybody watch last night and see the young man from Puerto Rico? I was not expecting that at all! Neither were the judges.

Wasn't he something???!!!

What a fabulous voice. I hope he goes far.

I have to say I had pretty much written off AGT after the winner last year. I felt he was very underserving and did not have talent worthy of a winner of this type of show. It was hard to take it serious after that.

My family had it on when I came home from work so I sat down and gave it another shot. I have to say that Howie has made this show enjoyable for me. Now if they would only get rid of that annoying Nick Cannon. (but I have to give him his props for being a good sport!)

Default I had to go back and look

to see who won last year. Completely forgot. He was not my fav and did not want him to win, although lots of folks I know were rooting for him. I've really enjoyed it for the most part this season. Howie is such a refreshing change from The Hoff.

The chicken catcher singer won. I can't remember his name either. I wonder how he's doing.

Default I couldn't believe some of the ones they put through

like the woman who thinks she sounds like Patsy Cline and went on and on and on and on. And of the group that was so good they sent them straight to Hollywood? Come on.

I know, that woman - makes no sense to me! No reprimand to her like to that guy singer who went over by just a little. In the automatic group were those 2 little little boy dancer - they were cute and all, but a Vegas show is the objective and they are way too young for that pressure.

His name is Kevin Skinner...not sure what he is doing, if he got a show going or not?? Terry Fator the previous winner, with all his dummy's is doing very well in Vegas...the plays at the Mirage...pretty classy joint!!

I am pulling for that group that defies physics as well...that's entertainment...

Four acts with talent. Although the little boys are cute as buttons, I can't see them doing a gig in Vegas. JMHO

I think the little kid dancers are so cute, however, I think the girl dancers should have been sent on. One of my favorites is the sisters that sing. They are really good and the older one is totally beautiful. Also the Fighting Gravity is phenomenal.

I think those were the 4 acts that should have moved on.

RNG was bette technically, but those boys are aboslutely adorable. I don;t think they are a Vegas act and will probably go early on.

I though Fighting Gracity was absolutely amazing.

Glad to see the air guitar people gone. They were amusing for about 5 minutes.

Finally sped through the dvr'd results, happy with the results, too. The tykes from Future Funk are very cute and marketable, but still too young for a full fledged Vegas show, in my opinion anyway. I wonder if Fighting Gravity is who Howie was referring to?

a side note: Why on earth does it need to be an hour show? I sped through it in about 10 minutes it seems, no desire to see either entertainment act....and another observation, why are their clothes the same as the show night?

I totally don't get how children can be a Vegas show act...Branson, maybe, but Vegas?!? Seriously, I just don't see that as a good thing from any point of view.

That factor has almost turned me off to the show. They could easily do two hours in one or less. I also wondered about the clothes.

If you mean the acts' clothes (and not the hosts), I noticed that too. I think it is so you will remember them better. As in, I can't remember the names, but those girls in the green dresses. Or whatever. IDK!

The four they picked were great. I agree the guys from Virgina Tech "Fighting Gravity" were awesome and I would pay to watch them in Vegas. The two gals are darling and I hope they get as far as they can. The oldest one is beautiful! The two little boys were cute, but much to young for Vegas. But the young man who sang and they selected has a pretty amazing voice and hopefully if he doesn't win, there is some recording studio watching him and will pick him up. JMHO

subbing for now - don't want to say anything yet about last nights results in case someone hasn't watched the DVR yet. Don't want to lose the thread.

This is the first year I have actually picked all the acts correctly to go on to the semis. In the past it always seemed as if the public voted for some act that really did not deserve to be there. (usually little kids who may have been cute but not even close to be a million dollar act)

Of course...for the life of me I still can't figure out how they sent that opera singer from Puerto Rico home and kept that no-talent Ronith. It was humiliating to watch him, let alone be him.

I really like a couple of the singers but I REALLY like Fighting Gravity and ASCENDANCE. They are both so unique and really fun to watch!

Default I can't remember Ronith by name

What does he do? For the most part, I have been pleased with who went through this time. Past seasons have left me scratching my head.

I'm wondering why, if America votes, do the judges choose the last act to go through? I guess it just adds a little drama and gives them something to do besides sit there.

and he is who I thought he was (Ronith). For the life of me, I can't figure out how he got past the auditions. He, IMHO is in no way talented or even remotely funny.

I think I've missed some of the selections... did the one younger guy (singer) whose dad was there waiting in the wings, make it through? On the selection shows I saw,I didn't see him.

Fighting Gravity is SO cool!

I just watched the show from last week as a rerun. I think the rerun of the results is tonight. Can anyone tell me who moved on from the second group? I could watch the rerun but since it has so much blah blah blah I would really just like to know. Anyone care to enlighten me? Thanks!
