I've had so many people ask how I did my glitter background that I made up a tutorial for it. You can find it here:
http://amethystfyre.blogspot.com/200...-tutorial.html I would welcome any feedback about the tutorial since I plan on doing many more in the future and want them to be the best they can be. Thanks for looking. |

I created a tutorial using Cuttlebug dies to create a beautiful filigree medallion that can be used in papercrafting. There are three parts to the tutorial, each one describing different variations of the medallion.
You can find the basic tutorial on my artistic blog at http://gitana-thecreativediva.blogsp...medallion.html. Please let me know what you think of the tutorial. If you use the technique, I would love to see your work. Thanks. - Gitana, the Creative Diva [email protected] |

Men's Shirt Tutorial

On another thread I had asked for some opinions on the masculine shirts I made for my monthly card swap. I had several people ask me if I had a template. Well, I threw one together. I haven't ever done one like this so I hope it's ok. I can pop out quilling tutorials in a snap but this was so different. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for the shirt tutorial.

I tried this just today when my boys had the glue gun out for pinewood derby car assembling. Mine didn't dry clear either. But I colored them with a copic (which is alcohol based) and it's stayed on wonderfully. Now I think I've got to practice to get some more uniform sizes.

Thanks for sharing! This thread is great. Who doesn't love custom colored dew drops. :)

I'm having a ball making my own dew drops and pearls. I've used ranger alcohol inks and they worked great. put a dozen or so in a tiny ziplock 2" X 3" size then 2 -3 drops of ink and smooshed(technical term) them around with my fingers. spread them out to dry and LOVE them. Be sure to get all the glue "webs" off before you put into baggie I found they absorb more ink and turn out splotchy (more technical talk). I also used the luminere paint bought for another project but still in plastic lol. It worked well but I had to remove from baggie and lay flat and seperate those or they stuck together as the paint dried. But my favorite has to be the pearls using Ranger perfect pearls -pearl. I brushed that on the glue dots before I peeled them off my craft sheet and was really amazed at how much they look like the pearls I've been paying a small fortune for.

Oh, yep your probably right. I looked at them and they are so perfectly round that I just thought they couldn't be from a glue gun. Not to mention there is a product called glue dots. I'm sure mine would be quite messy!
Thanks, Dina |

Yes, the glue dots are the ones I made with hot glue. When I dusted with perfect pearls I did not peel the from my craft mat untill after I brushed the powder on. That may work better for the nail polish idea as well although I personally don't think I'd use nail polish too fussy for me. The perfect pearls is a fine powder and I can brush the whole row of glue dots while they are still on craft mat. I did burnish with the large brush too to make sure it was good and stuck on (so many technical terms)lol. The alcohol inks are even easier, toss into baggie and smoosh (more tech talk).
|
The trick is to use tweezers (use ones you don't care about) to hold it while you paint the top and bottom then put it down and get the sides that you miss!! =) I'll try to take some pictures of some of the drops this afternoon.
|
What a charming box!!!!!! Thanks for your tutorial. I think I will try that for a table favor for easter. Cute! I also loved the smallest one that you made to be used as a pendant!

Another way to hold the dew drops for painting is to use lollipop sticks. Dip the tips in Eileen's Tack It Over and Over. Let them dry and then you can use these to hold the backs of the dew drops while you paint them. You can even just dip them into things like enamel, or acrylic paints, or even Lumiere paint. You can then just put the sticks into a piece of styrofoam (packing material) and let them dry. The lollipop sticks can be used over and over, so it's not as much trouble as it seems. I have not tried this with the glue dew drops but it works great on the fake acrylic ones from Michael's.
