This is awesome! Made a bunch of the dots while DGD was down for a nap. Haven't tried dying them yet but she will be taking another nap in a little bit. Never bought any of these because of the cost but love the look of them. And now I have a way to use up some of the zillions of glue sticks I have but rarely use now that I have discovered 3 in 1 glue! Thanks for sharing your creativity. This is genius!!!

Not much makes me gasp, but AHHHH! Dew drops in any color I want??? Thanks Lindsay! I'm going to give this a try when I get a chance :D
|
Boy do I feel stupid but what is Ranger ink? Can you use the SU reinkers to color them?
|
This is awsome! Thank you so much for sharing this link.
|
Could you use the Stampin-up reinkers?
|
What a great $$ saver! TFS!

Hmmmm, what brand ink? You only need 2 or 3 drops. I used Ranger ink. Maybe the bag was too full, I made some other shapes with the glue and crammed too much in once and it didn't take well. Just a thought.

I made these last night! I had such fun making them.

Whoohoo
I made some today and they turned out great.

i was wondering if anyone has done painting on candles and how to do it. sherry
|
Hi Sherry! If you're talking w/ ink, the only way I've ever done it is to stamp/color on tissue and then use wax paper w/ a heat gun to melt the paper into the candle.
If you're talking about w/ acrylic paint, there actually is a candle-painting medium that you use either mixed w/ the colors or directly on the candle. It helps the paint adhere and then acts as a varnish or sealer to the finished design. HTH! |
I must be tired tonight i meant stamping on candles not painting, But thanks Deb. I liked your ideas too.

Stamp on the tissue paper with your favorite stamps. color with inks . Or print on the tissue paper using your computer. Use a glue stick to stick tisue to paper, only around edges. then print the way you normally do. Okay now you have your inked tissue of the image you want, get out your heat gun and heat the candle and roll the paper on. Shaping on the heat sheet and even out the wax, roll and heat. I find that the candle heats and melts from the inside out and will, burn slow and steady, usally people dont want to light them. Tomorrow is my birthday, I have taken the day off work, and I'm going to please myself- I'm planning on making some of these. I even used my 1/2 off Michael's coupon last time to buy a hot glue mat. So, watch out! I'm planning on making birthday baubles! I may go a little berserk, and see if I can foil them. Hm. Ideas, ideas! I shall report back! (I even cleaned off my craft desk, so I can work on it)

do you just sprinkle the Pearl Ex in the bag?
I tried some with Ranger inks, and they came out a bit spotchy. I put about 10 in the bag. Gonna try again. Maybe certain colors take better or it was too many ??? |
Dew Drops Make Your Own
I put the ink in a bag and then the dew drops, and then when I took them out of the bag and laid them on a paper plate I also touched up the drops that didn't cover to well. You are right though some colors did better than others.
Hope that helps. |

I just did some and they turned out beautifully. I used Stazon ink. I have some alcohol inks and will try different colors with that. I also want to try the pearl-ex. Thank you so much for sharing. |

I found my low temp glue gun worthless for these, the hot glue gun worked like a charm. I used the low temp neon & glitter glue sticks in the hot glue gun (I know, not supposed to!) and got lots of neat effects. by alternating chunks of color stick with chunks of glitter stick, I got a mixture- color & glitter. They vary in intensity, and look really cool. (And I just cut the sticks into smaller chunks & slices) I'm using an old manual feed (push the stick through with your finger) This mixing wouldn't work with a trigger gun, the chunks would just fall out. I colored a few with markers, mixed results. Some markers/colors work, others just blotch. And that's even in the same brand. So, it's trial and error on the coloring, for me at least. I had fun playing with these yesterday. It's a great way to have custom color Dew Drops! |
