Thanks so much - very attractive card. I have a ? - when using the agua painter, sometimes it is difficult to control the amount of water and then the cs gets a bit too wet Any suggestions? Have tried to put very little water in it and also just dipping the tip in a bit of water. Thanks :-D

Sorry I couldn't help. I just did a quick search online and came across a few blog tutorials but they all require a creame. Sorry couldn't help, hopefully someone can help you find it.

I did a quick search of this thread and found a link on Post #61 that might be helpful: http://www.stampinkub.com/tutorials/reverseetching.html

If thats not it either, you might try a Google search which will bring up different blogs that have tutorials on glass etching.

:-D Michelle

elaina fuller 09-21-2008 04:06 AM

thanks for all the help ladies, i must of dreamed this up, after i read those other tutorials, i don't think etching can be done without the etch cream. i'm goofy to think so

Alicesue 09-21-2008 06:57 AM

This is one I've seen done

I have seen a faux etched glass technique done with opaque MACTAC - the type used for bathroom window privacy.

The designs are cut from the MACTAC and stuck to the glass. Rubbed with a soft cloth to remove any air bubbles.

Haven't tried this, myself, but it looked quite nice. And, I suppose, you might use glass paint to enhance the design, if desired.

Anyway, thought this might be something you could try.

elaina fuller 09-21-2008 07:54 AM

thanks for all the options, ladies, i was trying to locate this for my sister, who is a demo, but she can't demo the etch solution cuz it's not su brand, i keep my eyes peeled for more feedback on this topic though, just for my ownself, i think this is a nice project to do.

old technique, glad to see revived

I liked this technique, years ago we used freezer wrap paper instead of
saran wrap. Great to see an old technique revived. It really was great
for holidays when it's hard to find different stamps like Easter, Shamrocks,
Thanksgiving, for background paper and matching envelopes, I think the
freezer wrap was sturdier for envelopes Great job on the demo
