Masking Tutorial with Stamps & Die-Cuts

Masking techniques are a great way to give your stamping projects visual depth and interest, especially when combined with your die cuts. I've used two different masks to create the following stamped topper:

First of all, I made a mask for my die, using a craft knife to trim out the centre of the die cut, and repositionable spray adhesive to make a sticky mask. I positioned this mask over my die cut and stamped my main focal image.

I also created a mask of the stamped image using masking paper. I positioned this over the stamped image, removed the die cut mask and coloured the background of the entire topper with chalk ink. Then I replaced the die mask (so I had both the die mask and the stamp mask in place) and used a random script stamp to create the background.
