Making A Ruffle Ribbon Trim
2 Attachment(s)
Hello, I hope you may be interested in my guide to Making a Ruffle Ribbon Trim like this
Attachment 341848 I'm a British crafter, so if any of my English sayings haven't travelled too well over "The Pond" and you don't understand what I mean, then please let me know! This Ruffle Ribbon Trim has been hand-stitched from satin ribbon (great for sewing machine phobics like myself). Ive used double-faced satin ribbon (15mm) but it would work equally well with contrast satin, grosgrain, twill or seam binding. So you will need: A generous length of ribbon Needle and thread An iron Working from inside the loop (to hide the knot), stitch a loop of ribbon together with a small stitch. Next, by eye, make another loop. Pass the thread along the back and up through the middle (so all the thread is kept to the back of the trim). Be careful not to stitch the second loop to the first loop. Repeat for as many loops as needed to reach your desired length. Tie off the thread to the back. Next warm up an iron and have a pressing cloth to hand. Starting with the first loop, carefully push down the loop to form a box pleat. Holding the loop in place with your fingers, very carefully start to press the loop into a box pleat. Repeat along the length, pressing each loop. Voila! A Ruffle Ribbon Trim. Thank you so much for looking, I hope you enjoy. |
Oh this is beautiful and so are those hearts!!!!
|
Thank you, the hearts are cut by my Silhouette machine! Glad you like the trim, I love making embellishments from scratch.
|
Thank you - especially for the picture tutorial. I love the ribbon effect but not great with a needle and thread so needed the pictures to be able to follow your directions. I too love the hearts!
|
Beautiful! Your ribbon tutorial is most helpful. Where, how did you do the hearts on your card, they are very lovely.

Thanks Funstuff. The hearts are a download cut by my Silhouette die cutting machine. I then used the create outline function twice to create the black and then red mats. I used Black Stardream and Emperor Red Majestic double sided pearlescent cardstock. Then I had to add the odd Black AB crystal or two (I like a bit of sparkle)!
Please do keep an eye out for other tutorials, I've just uploaded one on Hatpins http:////www.splitcoaststampers.com/...s-t548674.html |
Thank you for sharing. The ribbon & hat pin tutorials are great.
