Clay Embellishments
I recently tried Makin's Clay, an air-dry polymer clay. It performs really well and remains flexible even after cured. I thought these would make the prefect embellishments for cards and other projects.
http://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.spli...22c53fee3d.jpg 1. Roll the clay out to about 1/8 inch. Let dry overnight. 2. Die cut clay. 3. Decorate with Imagine Crafts products such as Iridescent Creative Medium, irRESISTible Texture Spray and Pico Embellisher, and StazOn Inks. Watch the video tutorial showing how I created these embellishments: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uYj3BeGmXqw?" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Wow - I love that it's flexible. That is beautiful - thank you for sharing! I will look for this!

Wow! That is a great idea!!!! I bet the stampin up paperclay will do this, too! Can't wait to try it!!! Thank you for the inspiration!

This technique was part of a PTI Stamp-a-faire a few years ago. If you roll it out a bit thinner, low profile dies will cut it easily! It can be sanded too if any edges are rough.

Outstanding, Mary! I never thought about using maken's clay for embellishments. what a great idea especially when the mixed media challenges comes out every week. checked out your blog as well. you do amazing things, Mary. Thanks so much for your generous heart to share your how to's with SCS.

I've done this with Paperclay; tinted it with a bit of reinker. I made some adorable angel embellies for cards with PTI's Love Lives Here: Holiday dies. I still have a couple; if I can find them, I'll come back and post a pic.
Crayola's Model Magic works too, but you end up with a poofy effect as it dries. |
I wonder if you could stamp the clay with the corresponding stamp. Wouldn't Crazy Birds be fun as a 3-D embellishment? Then you could add the accessories cut with paper!
