Default TLC771 ~ EOINA Acetate and Tissue ~ {12/02/19}

Happy first Monday in December to you all.
First Monday means it's time for an Everything Old Is New Again challenge, and I thought we'd revisit Acetate and Tissue, also known as Caught in Crystal. There are only ten uploads to the gallery within the last 6 years, so when you create yours, make sure to add it to the gallery to inspire others. Simply choose Technique Spotlight from the first drop-down menu, and Acetate & Tissue from the second.

You can see Beate's tutorial HERE.

She suggest using Glossy Accents or similar, as that was what almost everybody had back then, but we have more supplies in our arsenal now, and I went with using Multi Medium Matte. Any thin glue that dries clear will do the job.

You can stamp or not on your acetate - if you're going for the "caught in crystal" look I think you will need to do the stamping. Since I had heatproof acetate, on one of my pieces I stamped with regular Versafine and embossed with black EP.

Great for Christmas cards - think ornaments, but I went with a generic stash card for the sample I'm sharing today.

One of Beate's suggestions is to stamp on the background card piece. I tried, and my first attempt didn't show at all, even though it was a very dark green ink I used. I guess if the colour of the re-inker is strong or the ratio of ink to glue is too high, there's less effect. I wanted to get it to work, so I made a second attempt with the same dark green ink on the white background, but less re-inker.
For more of a caught in crystal look, I felt that it was better not to emboss. With the seahorse, he does appear to be caught behind the acetate even though he's stamped on the front - but my other card, which I embossed, the added dimension from the embossing means it's clearly on the front of the acetate.

Have fun trying it out - get a couple of chores done in the drying time, and then come back and share your creation here.

Remember to use the keyword TLC771 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:

1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Oh Sabrina! The challenges you pose for us makes my hair turn white -LOL
This is actually my 3rd attempt - since the now "Brown" it's so old crystal lacquer I poured on the first piece was so thick it wouldn't spread and the second which had a prettier blend of colors got mucked up when I tried to die cut it . . . so here is mine with you "favorite" candle.

Wrapping paper tissue is what I have always assumed! Never considered it being anything else till you mentioned it.

Since I was already inked from elbow to finger tip, I decided to try one more of these. This time with a smaller image and using Elmer's clear school glue instead of the Modge Podge - It was ALOT easier to work with. Here's my second card:
